Biz-Opp Description

USANA Health Sciences is a company based in Salt Lake City, Utah, that sells a wide range of health supplements, vitamins, and personal care products. USANA has built in a multi level marketing business model into their products, giving everyday people the opportunity to create an income by working with the company.

Detailed Overview

USANA is one of the older multi level marketing businesses as it was founded in 1992 and still in business today. The company has been mentioned in Forbes best companies list from 2004 and 2006. Their main focus is on selling consumers and associates their vitamins although they sell other products for personal needs.

They have expanded with products for hair care, skin care, supplements for fitness, and weight loss. I found that their products were of very high quality when I researched and read reviews from the customers. The company states that their vitamins in particular were of higher quality than those you’d find in your drug or supplement store.

Their compensation consists of a downline structure common in many network marketing businesses. Rather than using earnings directly, there is a point system which is exchanged for real money. The great thing about USANA is that you do not have to pre-purchase thousands of products to resell, all you have to do is place the order and enroll your referral and they the company ships the products.

As an MLM business opportunity, USANA encourages you to recruit more members who will also become distributors of the products. The more members you recruit to the network, you also have greater chances to earn huge commissions. In addition, there are no downline level limits like many MLM structures.

The downline system is very complicated and takes some time to understand. There is a maximum of 5000 points you can earn on both the left and right downlines. You also earn extra commissions for reaching a certain number of points and there are carryover points which add to your next payout.

I like that you can manage your downline and see what’s going when you login online. This is something that most network marketing companies do not offer. You never know what’s happening in the downline in other network marketing businesses but USANA gives you exactly what bonuses you qualify form, how much you’re earning, and more.

There are bonus pools you can earn if you do well and there is a residual income built in. The goal is to sign up preferred customers or sign up distributors. The best way to earn with USANA is to refer other distributors that sign up to buy a product from the company every month. This is the case with many other health and supplement related network marketing businesses.

Reputation

To sum up, USANA is a solid company with great earning potential. I found the payout system very confusing and it took a while to understand it. This business is easier to market because they have a wide range of products and the health market is constantly growing.

The biggest complaint I’ve found from customers is that the supplements and vitamins are much more expensive than those found in stores. People have also said that they are not of significantly higher quality than regular supplements and vitamins.

Besides that, USANA has great training and support for its distributors. Most of you earnings will come from signing up new distributors and like other network marketing businesses it will involve a lot of networking, team meetings, and self promotion. It’s a solid business if you are looking for a network marketing business with some great products.

  Usana Health Sciences deceptive

Personally, I've lost three friends to this MLM organization. Three of my cousins experienced a heavy loss in money during their time as members and eventually backed out. Me, myself, have gone to a few of the meetings to hear what they have to say. This is the basis as to which I write this review.

I can confidently say that this definitely is a pyramid scheme. Yes, you can make money, but not as much as they promise. The riches they speak of are possible for those at the top of the chain, those who have been with Usana in it's early stages before thousands of others were scammed into the business. At the meetings, I've talked to members about their time with Usana (often ranging from 1 to 4 years) and trust me, they do NOT look like they are getting decent cashflow. You might say "but you can't judge a book by it's cover, " and that may be true, but if you're really making the money that Usana promises, you won't look as miserable. Throughout the whole meeting, the speaker makes so many false claims to boost the reputation of this pyramid scheme that you find it difficult to keep an open mind to all this information. In a magazine the speaker pulled out, there was a list of supplements ranked from 1 - 100, with 100 being the best supplement. Usana vitamins ranked 92, One-a-day ranked 1.7 and Centrum just as low? How can brand name vitamins that are on many shelves at the most popular stores be ranked on the lowest end of the spectrum, and Usana products that are basically unknown to the common person, be ranked one of top? You pay around $300 for the basic package or $1200 for the pro package, which is your initiation to Usana Health Sciences. Once you've lost that money to the corporation, usually your other incentive is to stay to try and make it back.

Another deceptive tactic that was deployed on me was when an old friend called me to have lunch. It would be a great opportunity, seeing that catching up with an old friend would be an enjoyable experience. We met up at the assigned location only for me to find out that she was also there with her "director" to explain to me what Usana is and to try to recruit me. Seriously? You really have to have no soul to succeed in this business, knowing that you are scamming your friends and family for the benefit if yourself.

For what it's worth, I like Usana Health Sciences for making vitamins to better the health of the people. The only shady party about this corporation is the recruitment, which is necessary if you even want to get a whiff of that money they promise.

Have a plan before you sign up and invest thousands

I joined USANA after a friend of my mother came to our house and promised us lots of money. I went to a seminar at a hotel got very excited about the prospect of easy money and signed up.

On paper the business opportunity is actually very good: first you buy 1 or 3 biz centres depending on how much profit you want to make, then to earn any money you have to buy products from USANA every month. You get paid for signing people up to the business and getting them to buy products every month also. In theory you only need to sign up a few people and then they can sign up people and those people will all go under you and generate you money.

The big problem I encountered was the fact that when the guys on the very bottom cannot sign up anyone else they will start losing money and will have to quit and thus a chain reaction will start and your business will eventually crumble.

If you are just starting with USANA make sure you have a good number of people who are already willing to sign up and invest money. You must also continue to recruit new people to keep the newcomers under you from losing money and quitting.

The products are also expensive and you would be looking at having to spend about $300 or more a month just to be able to make money.

I lost $2000 in about 7 months with this. At the beginning I signed people up but then no one could recruit any more people into the business and then it all fell apart.

Basically if you are just starting out be prepared to have a massive uphill battle trying to sell the concept to everyone you know. If you have a lot of contacts and you are very good at selling a concept to someone give this a go as the payout structure is very good once you get enough people involved. If you are an average Joe who has no experience marketing anything and has a limited amount of contacts then stay far away from this. You have to pay to sign up and then you have to buy products every month. It gets expensive fast.

Overall it's a Great Business Opportunity

I was introduced to USANA by attending a house meeting at my good friend's house. I must say first of all that I was very skeptical of these MLM programs but I came to the meeting anyway.

At first I said to myself that this meeting is just to showcase the wealth and material stuff that the presenter of the meeting had accumulated over the years in the business because for about 15 - 20 mins it was just about how much he made and how much I can make too.

Well he finally came down to the meat of the business and spoke about how much the products have helped people around the world and that is when he had my attention. In the end I joined the business but not totally convinced about it.

Well I started using the vitamins and my wife used the skin and hair products. I WAS VERY MUCH AMAZED BY THE RESULTS AND SO WAS MY WIFE. I bought some vitamins for my parents, brothers and sister and they too decided that they need more of this stuff. I felt safe to recommend it to anyone looking for supplements and that is what I have been doing for some years now. I feel energized each day and my wife also noticed it as well but I will stop there on that topic. I just think they have amazing products but I have not tried everything and I still feel that some products work better on or in your body depending on your diet but I had GREAT results and so does my wife.

If you lose today, win tomorrow. In this never-ending spirit of challenge is found the heart of a victor. Keep pressing on with your dreams and NEVER give up.

  Body Rox tablets

Before I heard about these tablets I had been having really painful stomachaches. My friends told me about these tablets. He gave me a bottle of 84 tablets and told me that I would feel a lot better after. I have taken these tablets for about 1 week now. I feel much better, but when I accidentally bit on one of then they tasted horrible. So, what I do now is put the water in my mouth first then the tablet.

Products are good... but not the Business Opportunity

I came across USANA from a flyer I saw posted up. I was interested in seeing what this Business Opportunity was and found out it was USANA. I have tried their products before through family, but I had never heard of the business side of it before. I ended up going to a meeting that was being held on the business side of this and I was not impressed.

They woman who was trying to recruit others went way overboard with her tactics. Her main approach was that she was rich because of this opportunity and you could see she was not. It was just one of those things where she tried to promote the money I could make instead of anything else. She said people would be concerned about the price of the product and she had good lines for all of that. I was impressed by that.

She did raise some concerns with me though. I was asking her about where to advertise if I decided to join and become a distributor. She was telling me that I had certain methods I could use and that they were very limited. I did not like the sound of this. She did leave me with some other products and a DVD which I watched. The whole thing just seemed to be more bother than what it was worth.

I can say that this program is not for me. I would encourage others to give it a try if they don't mind very strict guidelines and can sell like the dickens. Keep in mind though that the products are excellent.

Sales tactics just okay, but excellent product

I was introduced to USANA about a year ago at my place of employment. One of my customers who knows that I am greatly interested in my health approached me about a biz-op and the benefits of receiving discount products. He told me about the meetings gave me a CD and left me with product to try. I watched the DVD's and read the information packets he left with me and took all the supplements as well.

I attended the next meeting with him it was held at a neighborhood church, all of the people were very helpful, but I felt the it was just to much of a hi-pressure sales approach. I love the product, in fact I still buy from the same man and am on autoship but the sales tactics were just too much for me. If you can handle hi-pressure sales you might enjoy this job opportunity and the discounts available because the product is truly amazing.

USANA Products are Quality, Biz Opp only Mediocre

I was a representative for USANA for about 5 years. Their product line is top notch. However, I found as a business that USANA left some variables to be desired.

Products: USANA products are made with pure raw ingredients, no chemicals or synthetics in contrast with nearly ALL products sold in stores. Companies who manufacture truly non-synthetic nutritional products do charge more for a FAR superior product. Would one expect a Ford Escort to cost the same as a Mercedes? There is solid research finding that synthetic products not only have no positive effect, but can also be HARMFUL to health. Google searches would find it. All nutritional products are NOT created equal. While sadly a large number of Americans will buy the lowest priced item on the shelf, there are those who understand the quality issue and will pay the price difference to protect their health.

The BIZ-OPP: The business opportunity includes similar challenges to most other direct marketing companies. The binary compensation plan requires balance, yes. Virtually ALL compensation plans require balance in order to earn income. This simply means that one needs to DO something, to sell and distribute product prior to expecting an income. Those who expect otherwise have fallen for some hype of thinking all they had to do was join to make money. With that said, I found the USANA plan difficult to build due to the 3 business centers needed to be activated in order to earn large income. Other binary plans are much less complicated and have higher potential to build significantly without as much effort.

Other Concerns:

1) USANA corporate includes a lot of scientists who are Harvard types and well-trained in nutritional medicine, however severely lacking in real life marketing. The company will provide a replicated website (for a fee) to their reps (which is useless for marketing and costs the company nothing at all), yet will NOT allow much freedom to their reps in terms of using targeted marketing strategy to sell the product line. Very strict corporate policy on this has caused many reps to turn elsewhere. I had spent months developing a website, and corporate forced me to shut it down - not because it made any false claims nor was of poor quality or anything like that - simply against policy.

2) About 5 years or so ago, USANA was spreading wide into foreign markets and many in the USA felt that focus ignored them and their needs. While it SEEMED there was high growth given the expansion into international markets, at the same time the US volume dropped considerably.

3) The corporate office has been known to pressure some of their top-ranking leaders with threats of suspended compensation due to suspected activity within other companies who are competitors of USANA. This resulted in a LARGE number of top earners to quit and go to other companies around the same time frame. In general, while the corporate office SAYS they support their field of distributors, there were many highly successful reps who felt otherwise.

A final note: One very positive current trend in the industry of network marketing is that distributors are realizing the need for a much more professional approach to marketing. This is in direct contrast to those old-fashioned methods of chasing around friends and family, hype, hotel meetings, etc. Replicated corporate websites have a purpose, but are NOT an effective marketing tool. A better choice might be a company more open to effective ways of internet marketing to find target audiences.

Went to a distributors home meeting

About a year ago, I was invited to a home meeting about a certain biz opportunity which turned out to be on USANA. I actually had called a 800# from an advertisement I saw on a truck. Again, when I met with the people, which turned out to be a husband/wife team, they invited me to a home meeting.

They went on and on about how great the product was and how much money people were making in the company. This couple had invested a lot of money in their USANA business. They had all kinds of marketing brochures and catalogs and product samples. They gave me about a 10-day supply of vitamin samples, I never took any though. And they gave me a few CD's and DVD's on the company.

Although this was one of the nicest couples I have ever met, I did not join the company. I didn't like the fact I would probably have to have in home meetings or go to hotel room type meetings. That's okay if it's your thing, but it's just not for me.
