Sorry for the downtime!

Sorry for the downtime today. We had to perform an unscheduled upgrade and ran in to some problems. Everything is back to normal now.

Product owner “rebuttals”

As IM Report Card gets more popular, we’re starting to see signs that product owners are paying attention to what people are saying about their “stuff” at IM Report Card.

This is a good thing for everyone, and we’re happy to see this.

We never meant for comments on the review pages to turn into full-blown discussions or back and forth “arguments” between customers and product owners … and we don’t want to play “mediator” in the event of a dispute (at least not yet!) …

However, lately several product owners have expressed concern that their only way to combat inaccurate statements made by users about their products was to post in the forum thread for their product, where it’s less likely to be seen.

We agreed that this wasn’t quite fair, so we’ve implemented new functionality that allows product owners to submit a “rebuttal” to specific user comments if necessary.

Upon receipt of a rebuttal from a product owner we’ll simply attach it to the applicable comment, and you’ll see a little alert icon next to that comment.

Further discussion will still need to take place in the discussion forum thread for the particular item in question, but at least this gives product owners a chance to respond to comments they feel inaccurately portray their product or the users’ experience.

If a product or site owner posts a response to any of your comments you’ll receive an email notification letting you know they’ve responded, with a link to view it.
