Wix Only Allows Space For 2000 Photos
Our site is extremely photo intensive. We travel the country each year photographing attractions and locations and our entire basis for the site is posting our photos. I did a ton of research and q&a with various companies when deciding who to set our site up with, and Wix assured me we would never run into a limit on the number of photos we could post. It was explained that Wix reduces the file size of photos when uploaded and that by going with the Unlimited Plan, we would have no concerns. The site went live at the end of March 2010. By this spring, we are being told that there is a 2,000 photo limit and that not only can we not put more photos on, but we have exceeded our limit and Wix is removing some of our photos to get the total back below 2000. 2000 photos may sound like a lot of photos to someone not in this field, but when I spend 72 hours photographing a location over the better part of a week, I take a lot of photos and want a large number of them included on our site. After the hundreds of hours we have in setting up the site, we want Wix to honor what they told us. We have even offered to pay slightly more for a truly "Unlimited" plan, but they have not budged. I know I can link photo sites like Picasa, etc, but I built the site with the intention of being able to have people visit the site and stay on the site, not go off in a myriad of links and not remain on our site. Since our entire point for having a site is to display our photos and that promise has been completely proven false, I give Wix a C at best. I give them that much credit because it is an easy and awesome way to quickly get a graphic heavy flash site on the internet. But for a person who can easily take 2500 photos in one shoot, 2,000 total photos is a drop in a $15 a month, 100's of hours invested bucket that I was promised held much more. I am posting this partially in the hopes Wix will change this policy. I have considered changing website development software, but I truly have hundreds of hours in building, adding to and tweaking this site. I would like to have what I've paid for and was sold on.
