NetBuis's comment on GetResponse ...
Terms of Service SCAM
A year ago I had a need for an autoresponder service so I paid a for a year advance from getresponse. I used perhaps 6-8 months of the service before my business changed and I didn't require the autoresponder from that point on, so I decided to just let it expire.
A few days ago, after reviewing my bank statement, I found that getresponse had charged my debit card for another year.
I called the "customer service" number to let them know that I hadn't been using their service for many months and did not want to renew for another year, only to find that they have no US based customer service department that could handle refunds, it's a Sweedish company. So, I filed a claim through my bank to have them dispute the charge.
My bank was able to get through to someone, apparently from Sweeden, who stated that the terms of service is that customers automatically agree to by requesting their service, states that they can auto bill the account until it is canceled, and that after a payment is made, even if you cancel it right away afterward and have no intention of using the service, they will issue no refunds.
Now, I have been through many vendors that take great pains to make sure that the customer knows about their auto billing and makes SURE the customer agrees and is happy with that method of payment. However, when a company like this one, hides the details of these billing practices in fine print, then refuses to grant a refund for NO SERVICE RENDERED, this is extremely poor business practice.
Stay away from these guys, they WILL rip you off if they can. My advice, stick with US based companies for services that actually want to retain a satisfied customer base and not just leech what they can before they go under.
