darkchanter's comment on Ad Ventures 4U ...
Nothing Ventured!
I become a free member of this site about three or months ago. I never bought any ventures because the way I understood it to work, it looked like a ponzi scheme to me:
You need to buy at least $10 worth and each venture matures to double it's value - when it matures. There is no set time for ventures to mature.
I could find no other income of site - nowhere to buy credits or advertisements (except buying ventures). And there is a "hit and run" rule which only lets you cash out half of your profits!
Nonetheless, by the time I'd read all the explanations of how the site works, I'd accumulated some hit-credits from surfing, so I put up a few splash pages.
The response was good with the click-through and conversion rates being on a par with my most effective traffic exchange (EasyHits4u). (Traffic exchanges pay you 1-3c per 100 pages surfed.)
I don't suppose that'll last much longer though, with people leaving because they now can't cash out.

Legitimate and Slow
This site is legitimate - which is quite the rarity in the PTC world - you will get paid and not much.
I (also) tried advertising on this site (using both their points and paid systems) with zero response: very low CTR (from my splash pages) and no conversions.
They never run out of advertisers which adds to their legitimacy as that's where the money to pay the members (should) comes from. It seems that people advertise there expecting little to no conversions for the low cost.
Most of the paid to sign up (PTSU) offers that aren't known scams require you to spend money (pay for membership) and the "point2click" system (as I indicated earlier) isn't profitable to use.
As a previous comments mentioned, the site has occasional frame-breakers and uses cookies extensively (because of the old script, I'd assume). This can be quite irritating when you're trying to view an add for tenths or even hundredths of a cent.
The upgraded, paid, memberships don't look to be profitable to me either.
darkchanter's comment on Mystery Clickers ...
Left Soon As I Read Their TOS
I joined this site about eight months ago and clicked away merrily for about two weeks before it occurred to me that my earnings must be a mystery given their advertising rates.
At the time the terms of service said that the member earnings were 'mystery dollars' and their actual monetary value depends on what the site earns. I the did some searching and discovered that people were being paid 1c to $100.
I cursed wasting my time and left the site.
darkchanter's comment on Valuebux ...
Good PTC Site Gone Bad
I was a member of ValueBux and for months everything was fine - it was one of the few PTC sites that had a sustainable business plan, forums, advertisers, etc.
Then the emails started coming. First there was a 48 hour sale (of their referrer packages and upgraded memberships) then it was extended. Then they wanted records of the users accounts! The places to buy the intangible products on sale did not have 'valuebux' in them.
The story was that the site had been sold and members needed to buy things in order to cash out. As one would expect, there was much resistance to this on their forum. (Isn't a PTC's income supposed to come from the advertisers?)
Whatever did or didn't happen, I'm convinced that this site has turned scam, or at the very least has become completely unsustainable.
darkchanter's comment on Bux.to ...
I Was Gullible
I joined this site when first starting to use PTCs. Back then, I didn't know what 'red flags' indicate a possible a scam. The short story is that I bought $16 worth of referrals, reached cashout and am still waiting for my money.
My experience is that one should avoid PTC sites where adding the pay per click and it's referral rate amounts to less than an advertiser pays for that click, the site advertises it's own intangible products extensively and searching 'site-name scam' on Google renders many complaints.
Another red flag with bux.to is that they refuse to payout to a Payoneer card issued by another site (the 'yourbuxcard' is a branded Mastercard from Payoneer). Other sites that pay to these debit cards have no hassle with who issued it, in my experience.
darkchanter's comment on Safelist Marketing Tactics ...
Worthwhile
The newer you are to safelists (and internet marketing in general) the more worthwhile this ebook will be. It contains some very basic information - how set up and manage a gmail account - through to some intermediate to advanced stuff - how to set up a funnel.
The information in the ebook is generally useful and covers topics like how to use safelists, how to make ad copy, splash pages, funneling, link tracking, autoresponders and the like.
What I found particularly useful is the way he determines what market is where; i.e. what is worthwhile marketing to safelist subscribers. I also found the idea of "split testing" to be an effective one.
Being a coder by background, I generally find the actual marketing information far more useful that the technical information. Nonetheless, the ebook contains explanations of and links to various tools.
When you go to the site and sign up for the ebook, you receive two emails: one from Jerry Iannucci and one from Safelist Marketing Tactics. You can ignore the one from Jerry (and still get the eBook).
Overall, it is solid information and contains Jerry's affiliate links - a viral marketing method. The ebook comes with the right to sell and/or give it away. If you want to rebrand it (to use your own affiliate links) then you need to buy an upgraded membership at safelisttactics (for $27). As usual, this entitles you to better downline earnings when referring people to the site.
darkchanter's comment on Affiliorama ...
Head And Shoulders Above the Rest
This is the best resource that I found regarding affiliate marketing. What I particularly like is the way the site is broken down into lessons on the various aspects (puzzle pieces) of the trade.
As a coder, I have done work for affiliate marketers and have often wondered why what they specify is effective - particularly regarding SEO.
Affiliorama has answered many of my questions in this regard which has given me quite some insight into how the industry works. I have also found their forum to be responsive in clearing up queries that I had.
darkchanter's comment on Fweb Traffic ...
Yet To See Success With fWebTraffic
This site appealed to me in a "why not give it a try - it may work" sort of way.
In about a month I've gathered five referrals with no clickthroughs on the splash page that I set-up there, and no second level referrals.
Perhaps I do need to "work it" harder. The thing is that I think that my marketing efforts are more effectively spent directly advertising my other programs, products, etc. as opposed to directing them via a page on this system.
A good idea in general and I think that between reading the six page "codes" to signup and the fact taht only your downline sees your page, there is too little exposure when compared with traffic and ad exchanges and other similar programs.
darkchanter's comment on EasyHits4U ...
What Distinguishes EasyHits4u for Me
As traffic exchanges go, EasyHits4u has all the better features and benefits that have been mentioned here already.
What I like about it is the minimum auto-assign ratio (the minimum number of credits earned that must be allocated to your site/s immediately) which is 30% for free members (and 0% for paid members). I like this because I like to save up my credits until I've built a funnel for whatever niche I'm researching.
People who don't have experience or expertise with using traffic exchanges effectively (to get referrals and program sign-ups, etc.) have their excellent (new) splash page building tool.
