Grade Jason Calacanis ...

Jason Calacanis is a successful internet businessman and most notably the founder and CEO of the search engine and informational website, Mahalo, Inc. He is a proponent of alternative search engine optimization methods and also created an interface program for optimizing your social networking site memberships. Often viewed as controversial in the internet marketing industry, this outspoken entrepreneur seems to always have a new online business venture in the works.
If you’ve never heard of Mahalo, Inc, then you probably haven’t been on the internet very much. This unique search engine is the brainchild of Jason Calacanis, and is what he calls “people driven”. When you search for information on a subject at Mahalo, you get facts that have been researched by real people who are hired by Mahalo. Calacanis enjoys running a search engine this way, because it means more facts and less internet marketing nonsense.
That being said, Jason Calacanis is certainly not against internet marketing. He has made a great deal of money online and is constantly coming up with new and successful business ventures. He was formerly the CEO of WebLogs, Inc., an organized network of internet marketing and technology blogs. He also used to run a media company and currently owns Seesmic Desktop; a social networking interface program.
One of the things that Jason Calacanis likes to talk about that usually ends up being controversial is that most search engine optimization techniques are garbage. He believes that people worry so much about using keywords, key phrases and meta tags to rank high in the search engines that they neglect the important things such as good written content and website design. Calacanis states unequivocally that really good, quality blogs and websites will always come out ahead in the end.
Jason Calacanis has built himself somewhat of a rogue reputation in the internet marketing world and on the internet in general. Not a lot of people agree with everything he says, but many do, and few can argue that he isn’t a strong and successful presence online. Jason is not afraid to state his opinions nor debate the facts, and this often makes for lively reading about him.

Knew Mahalo Before I Knew Him I was surprised when I decided to comment on Jason and found out that no one has commented about him here. I guess this is one of the cases where the product is more famous than the creator. But with something as ingenious as Mahalo.com, I am still surprised. I work for some HITs at mTurk which require me to use search engines more than I care to, and this was where I first started to like Mahalo. It was always on first page and never failed to give relevant information. It got to the point when my curiosity was sufficiently aroused that I sought the site's creator. Then I heard of the name Jason Calacanis. And I would be willing to offer to become his slave for life if ever I meet him in person because his site made my mTurking SO much easier. From what I hear and the amount of articles saying not-so-nice things about him (that he can be arrogant and not thinking first before launching into a written tirade), so that made me rate him B instead of an A. Not many of us can say that we have achieved the same level that Calacanis has managed to put under his name in his span of time in the internet industry, although of course, it would be SO much better if he was as nice as say, Chris Brogan. I wouldn't be giving him excuses for his attitude here so I'd just dwell on what good he's contributed and not on his tendency to complain a lot. If you want to follow him like I did when I first stared use Twitter. You won't regret it, I promise. He tweets out links to interesting articles that I've found joy and knowledge in reading every time. With Jason, I know I can't expect anything less than interesting. |

My father and I met Jason Calacanis over at Mahalo We met Jason through Twitter at first and he asked us to help him with his site Mahalo. He was starting Mahalo Answers at the time, which is a people driven answer portion of Mahalo. I love Mahalo Answers and I participate in answering paid questions daily. I made enough money to cashout really quickly, and yes they did pay. The minimum cashout at Mahalo is $30. I was paid via PayPal. They used to pay $2 per answer, but unfortunately they have since lowered it to . 25 cents. I am still at Mahalo to this day. The community is awesome and so friendly.

Really great guy I don't understand why some people dislike Jason Calacanis. I, for one, am a very big fan of Jason. For one, I like that he has that strong attitude that he isn't afraid of speaking up and saying what he thinks. This is great because he doesn't just go with the flow. As for Mahalo, I have been a registered user and although I haven't cashed out yet, I am quite happy making friends within the community. I read Jason's blog regularly and find that it's refreshing because it's not loaded with things he's selling or what not. It's just full of fun, and personal blogs like a typical regular person. I like that he is in touch with his parenting side, and this is quite evident with his posts of his baby. And for this I really respect Jason for being successful yet humble.
