Matt Cutts is currently head of the Webspam Team at Google. He joined Google in January of 2000 as a software engineer. Prior to joining Google, Matt was working on his PhD at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before starting his dissertation work, he received his Masters degree in computer graphics (also from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) and his Bachelors degree in both mathematics and computer science from University of Kentucky. One interesting little bit of information – he had a top secret clearance when he did work for the Department of Defense.
Matt Cutts is best known as writing the first version of Safe Search which is Google's Family Filter which is still (with some variations) used to this day to protect to the younger Google users. When he first joined Google, he earned the nickname “Porn Cookie Guy” because he would give his wife's homemade cookies to any Googler who found an example of unwanted porn in their search results.
As stated above, his personal online information sites states that he is head of the Webspam Team at Google. But, he is listed as the head of Search Quality Group in Google – specializing in Search Engine Optimization in the listing for the Extreme Makeover: Live Site Clinic at SES San Jose being held at the McEnery Convention Center today (August 13, 2009).
He has a personal blog which is titled Matt Cutts: Gadgets, Google, and SEO. He uses these posts to talk about new programs, to find out what people are wanting to learn about and to give some information on how to use Google to it's best advantage. Of course, it is also a personal blog so he discusses new books he has read and the type of music he enjoys during his workouts. But, the blog does give an insight into the type of person he is and how committed he is to Google.
One of the most interesting things included on his blog site are webmaster videos. There are currently over 100 available (you can find them on YouTube), and he tackles some of the questions that Google users throw at him. He has opened a “John Q. Public” email address (siliconvalleyuser@gmail.com), and with this email address he is asking people to just send him general emails (nothing Google related), the reason being so he can show you some of the new Google email features when he responds. He is not always able to talk about new Google features because he unsure if the general public currently has access to them. With the John Q. Public email, he will actually be able to use the new features on actual emails and take video showing how it all works.
Matt Cutts is one of the most respected members of Google. He is considered an expert in the field of Search Engine Optimization, and he is asked to speak at many functions. He has had a large hand in the growth of Google and is an important part of the company. He is willing to answer questions for the public and share his knowledge. The fact that he still gets excited about the company he works for is amazing and shows that he is proud of what both he and Google have accomplished.

Very Impressed I knew this guy was well known through out the internet, but I had no idea he worked with Google. I was very impressed when I found out what this guy does for others. It’s nice to have some around like Matt Cuts to share his knowledge with the public. This guy is the reason my sites look so professional. The best part of it all is that he doesn’t charge like other people, he gives information for free and it’s very helpful. I'm glad that there are people like Matt Cutts who help others without expecting anything back in return! I really recommend everyone to check out his blog and videos! Thank you, Matt Cutts! |

Great guy with spectacular advice Matt Cutts has everything you want in a teacher. Experience, knowledge, and honesty. He gives you free SEO information on his blogs that most people wouldn't give out for free and truly is there to help internet marketers build there site's appearance, credibility, and reputation on Google. The professional appearances of my three sites are all due to this man's advice on how to design my sites and how to clean it up to look organized and apt. My three websites are all on the top three pages of Google after years of building my websites with tools, services, products, and programs that have infused to bring together quality websites on CPA networks like Market Bay. A true inspiration to me throughout my development in the internet marketing business.

Matt Cutts and Google Matt Cutts is one of the best people I listen to when it comes down to Google. He knows the changes in algorithms, the seo changes, how the search engine will develop frequently and all of that other good stuff. Matt Cutts is somebody you need to frequently watch if you are looking to improve your SEO or get into Google's favor so you can help increase your business model as a whole. I actually like they way he gives advice and he is somebody I have great respect for as well others. This guy is the real Google go to strategist and without him, I don't know where some of my SEO skills would be at this point. He is truly the top of the line.

I admire Matt Cutt very much I admire Matt Cutt very much. I always check his blog and videos. What I like most about this person is that he tries to make SEO simple for everybody. I also like that he always takes care to update any time something new appears in Google. He always replies to comments. I think it’s great to get so much valuable information about SEO for free. His blog always has a lot of comments. If someone has a question he takes the time to explain anything he needs to know for free. I think this is one of the reasons he is so successful. |

A Matt Cutts Fan Girl I Am  Having almost ten sites to juggle on an everyday basis for SEO exposed me to Matt Cutts and his blog. He is my SEO god, if truth be said, and I think I have never learned more for free from anyone else than Cutts. And I am enjoying it too. If that sounds too nerdy, then you should try and visit Matt's site for yourself and if you don't get addicted and laugh once in a while (or at the very least chuckle at his humor), then there is something seriously wrong with you. Not only that, he is very attentive to his readers, and even sometimes personally goes to their sites to comment and clarify Google issues that they have. He is clearly passionate about what he does, and that passion is influencing me and a lot of his readers in a good way, helping us understand the complex Google system more. He wants to share to everyone what he knows (and he knows A LOT, trust me), and he is very, very generous for that.

Matt Cutts - Authority on SEO Google is getting strict and complex on SEO each day. Why I like Matt Cutt is because he tries the best to make them simple and comprehensible. I have been following Matt Cutt's blog and videos. His blog has frequent updates in par with Google's changes. He also writes non SEO activities of his blog which has a touch of human aspect of being a profession. His blog as I mentioned before is top notch in quality, and he takes care to update any new change in Google as soon as possible, and best part is he also takes time to reply to the comments. Matt Cutts has been very proactive in explaining newer concepts which provides an open forum for asking questions and for recommendations. Matt has been also warning us on bad practices in a very friendly way. This is something I personally like about him. |

Matt's blog is *the* place to visit and remember Matt Cutts' blog stands out in the 'jungle of blogs'. It is so inspiring to read because it is stuffed with valuable SEO information (for free!), - but the reason I like this blog is not only because of all the free 'Google related information'; an even more important reason is the way the topics are presented, AND at the same time I feel that I get to know the *person* Matt Cutts. Already when I had visited the blog 3 or 4 times, then I had a feeling that he was one one my friends (and one of the friends you would listen to). I have come to know and trust this guy, who tells me all this stuff (and quite often in an humorous way). Matt Cutts' way of blogging is a reminder to all 'bloggers' that those who visit blogs do not go there in order to read ads or affiliate links. They go there to get information and/or to be entertained - and that is what he provides. And this is proved by the numerous comments he gets to his posts. The number of comments makes it obvious that I am not the only admirer, and if you have never visited his blog, then do it now! |

Very Credible and Genuine Matt Cutts is probably one of the greatest assets Google "owns. " Yea, he's smart, we get that. (Honestly, I thought the overview was pretty funny. My husband has a PhD and has had government security clearance off and on for years. It's not really that big of a deal. It just means they do a background check, etc.) But he comes off as being very genuine and honest. Not only does he run his blog, answering tons of questions from all us minions trying to get on Google's happy side, but I've seen him (virtually) out and about trying to solve problems people are having with Google on the internet. Because of his demeanor and delivery, he adds a great deal of credibility to the public info Google puts out. I've also personally found his information to be very helpful. |

Man with a plan This guy is the real thing. He helps you to understand the concepts of search engines. One thing that really impressed me is that he had top secret clearance for the Department of Defense, meaning that the government doesn't take his skills for granted. I personally appreciate the filter program he wrote as I had to write similar programs for unwanted database synchronizations in search engines under a LAN connection. The one he contributed to was similar to the one I helped create! Certainly an experienced search engineer optimizer. He is very good at answering questions Google users have! It's hard enough to get a hold of him though. Good blogger's reference. I recommend him! |

The Best and it is free! Matt is a great guy who wants us all to succeed and to do it the right way. He provides the best information on the internet about what Google wants to see from web sites and tells us all exactly what we need to do to get Google to show us some love, and he does it all for free. His blog is the true blogger's bible!

All Hail Matt Cutts! I swear this guy is the bomb! If it wasn't for the fact that I'm in a domestic partnership already and he is already married himself, I would definitely ask him to marry me. Or if the laws allow it, I'd absolutely love marrying his brain. Or if he advertises for a slave, I would apply in a heartbeat. THAT is how much I am thankful for this guy's existence on earth. His blog is my online Bible, his articles have helped me out in more ways than he could ever know. His SEO tips and advice on how to please Google are heaven sent for anyone who's interested in making one's blog popular (thus enabling to attract advertisers and other money-making opportunities along the way). To top it all, he is nice. What more can you ask from a guy? He is very well-respected, and deserves every ounce of that because he earned it. |

The best there is As a past employee for Google, this guy has loads of information if you want to increase your page rank. He tells you everything you need to know when you are looking to land yourself on the first page of search engines. Like the person said above me, sometimes Matt even tells you when the pr for Google is updating. He helps you out a lot and everyone extremely benefits from him. An amazing resource I always tell people about this guy because he is the best resource out there! Not to mention, he is one of our few realistic insights into the secretive world of Google and what criteria they use to formulate their rankings. Like others have stated, he does offer some valuable hints, which you will notice if you read regularly. Also, if you are able to get him at a time when he is not too busy, he is more than willing to answer a question or two. I even know some people who have gotten one-on-one help from him for free. He's a great guy and all a website promoter could ever hope for.

The Google Insider I always strive for my blogs to have higher Page Ranks. Google Page Rank are usually updated every 2-3 months. However, there is no exact date, and only Google knows when it would be. Since Matt Cutts is a Google insider, he would sometimes drop hints of when the PR update would happen. Reading Matt Cutt's blog would help you with SEO and SERP techniques. So if you want to to have a higher Page Rank, apply his SEO advice. I visit his blog regularly. It also helps to know what Google does not like. I had experience "Google Page Rank slap" a few times due to engaging with paid postings. Then I learned that this was something that Google would penalized you for. Thanks to Matt Cutts for all the valuable information. Now, I know the techniques to have higher Page Rank. |

The best SEO guru to date! This guy was an employee for Google, and if you visit his blog, he talks about all the things that Google look for when they rank your site or blog! I am a huge fan of Matt Cutts.He knows exactly what he's talking about since he worked for Google and it's like you're getting the information about SEO and SEM straight from the horse's mouth! I am always on the lookout for his postings and updates and I've learned so much about SEO from him. I rate him 5 stars! This guy's the real deal! |
