BookCoverPro Description

Book Cover Pro is a desktop application which is designed to help small e-book (or hard copy) publishers design high quality book covers. The product was created by Book Cover Pro, Inc. which is based in Garrett, Indiana. In addition to producing the software, the company also provides graphic design consulting services.

BookCoverPro Detailed Overview

Are you someone to create e-books to sell online? If so, then you are well aware that one of the most expensive parts of creating an e-book is the design of the cover. Any skilled graphic designer will likely charge between $500 - $1000 for a cover which can make this a very expensive proposition. In recent years, many software products have come in the market aimed at helping this segment of the market but many of them have fallen short on their promises. Is Book Cover Pro any better? Well, in this brief review, we will take a look at the program so that hopefully you can make a wise decision about whether or not it will work for you and your publishing needs.

What is Book Cover Pro?

Book Cover Pro is a downloadable desktop application that gives its users the ability to control all aspects of graphic design production for e-books and printed books as well. The product costs $187 and can be downloaded immediately from the company's website. For a modest additional fee of $9, the company will also send you a CD-ROM so that you can have a hard copy as well.

Once downloaded, the program is fairly easy to set up and use. Recognizing that many people who purchase the program did not have a graphic design background, the company has provided a number of helpful templates to give almost anyone the ability to get started right away. It has an intuitive drag-and-drop feature which you can use to place image files that you want to use for your book cover. Additionally, within each template, you can customize all formatting elements including text and the size of the book. If you plan on having your book printed in hard copy format, you will need to ensure that you get the proper size dimensions and also the ISBN number. If you are going to be creating an e-book, however, none of this information is needed.

After you have formatted the book to your liking, then you will need to save it as a PDF file if you plan on distributing it as an e-book. For what it's worth, many book printers do accept PDF formatted files, but you will want to make sure that before you send anything that you contact the printer to make sure that your document meets all of their formatting requirements.

Do NOT buy this product

I received this product through download. I purchased the CD that never came. While the program worked, my computer crashed and I have tried over and over again to get someone to contact me so that I will not lose $222. No one has ever gotten back to me. I've sent emails about questions I've had and not one time has anyone replied. For $222 I should expect customer service of some kind and so should you.

Met my expectations

Having tried several alternatives to my ebook cover creation, I found BookCoverPro to rank among the best options. My first attempts were quite poor, due to the not-so-user-friendly layout, but once I learned the basics the results were more than satisfying. I was expecting something quite raw and basic, but in the end my ebookcover looks quite professional. I did recommend this software to some colleagues, and of course will suggest it to anyone in the ebook publishing environment.

Boosted my eBook sales 25% in the first month

Book Cover Pro is an excellent piece of software that allowed even the most inexperienced person design professional looking covers for their eBooks. I've done studies myself to prove that while you can't judge a book by the cover, customers do just that when it comes to eBooks.

I've tried PhotoShop but it was too advanced for me. I used to outsource my covers to college kids for $50 each (much cheaper than a pro with similar results) but with Book Cover Pro, I can do the same thing on my own and the product paid for itself from the very first week. I recommend paying the extra for the program on CD just so you have a back up if your hard drive crashes.

PROS :

-Free to try with demo before you buy

-Excellent customer support

-Easy to use

-Can be used for designing traditional printed book covers too

-Professional quality covers

CONS :

-Doesn't work with all image formats like PhotoShop does but

for the audience this is aimed at, they probably aren't going to

be using any of the unsupported file types.

Great software for creating a professionally looking EBook Cover

Before purchasing this software I used to shell out close to 80$ to 150 $ to graphics designers, but this software was a great investment for me. I usually sell eBooks on fat loss and even I write some free eBooks to give it as a compliment to my Opt in customers. This software not only gives you professional looking eBook covers but also great templates. The software is extremely easy to install. The provided manual is very good for introducing you to the basic mechanics. The functionality is very good and you have good control over your project. The best thing about this software is that it’s extremely easy to use and very intuitive as well. The end results are extremely good and professional looking Ebook covers. I generate around 4 covers very month and this has served me very well. Excellent investment. Saves tons of time and money.

A very handy tool for eBook writers!

As an ebook writer, it is really a must for me to design my own cover. I am fairly good in Photoshop but I have been searching for a tool that can immediately realize the design I wanted with just several clicks.

This is where the Book Cover Pro came in handy. I really find the GUI very user friendly and even a non-tech savvy can create a pro-looking cover design.

If you want to try it out before you buy, you can download the free demo version and try it out. I first downloaded the demo version, but after just couple of days I purchased the commercial version and for $9 they sent a CDROM. This is quite a deal for me because the tool is very handy and it's very easy to use.

Great software for those who don't know Photoshop

This software was installed on one of my friends computers and I had a chance to play with it for a day. The software underneath is basically just a regular image creator but on top has been graphically designed to give the impression that it was made specially for book covers. If we choose to make a graphic without a template it becomes a regular photo creator. Anyways the product is very easy to use and has a interface similar to MS Paint. There are no real technical terms to describe the tools and a small box appears stating the function. Overall it is a great product for those people who do not have Photoshop experience and want to create high quality e-book covers.
