Directory Submitter Description

Directory Submitter is a software program created by Brad Callen, also the creator of the popular SEO Elite software. The software helps automate the process of submitting their links to web directories. Submitting to directories is important as it can result in one way backlinks, increasing your search engine rankings and improve the page rank of your site.

Directory Submitter Detailed Overview

If you’ve been involved with search engine optimization for some time, then you know the important role links play in your rankings. One of the easiest ways to build your links has always been to submit your site to web directories. But the submission process can be time-consuming and tedious.

Directory Submitter is designed to cut down the time it takes to do your directory submissions. The first thing I noticed when I started using it was that the interface is very simple and easy to use. This is a very straightforward program that serves a simple purpose.

You are given two windows – one at the top and one at the bottom. The top allows you to browse through the list of directories and the bottom acts as a browser, displaying the directory. The directories can be organized by page rank, alexa rank and status of submission. This makes it easy to see which directories you’ve submitted to and which ones you haven’t.

The way the program works is that it pre-populates the submission form with your information on the directory sites. The only thing you have to do is choose the category of the sites and verify the captcha box. So the whole process is semi-automatic. I wish there was a function that allowed you to submit to the directories automatically and tell you which ones didn’t accept automatic submission. This way you can automatically submit to the ones that do not have any filters like captcha and use the software to semi-automate the ones that require verification.

What I found useful was the fact that you can manage multiple projects. You will probably want to assign one project per website so you can keep track of your results and stay organized (each site will probably require different form information as well). When you’re done with one project, simply save it and load the next one you want to work with.

The program also comes with the option to add new directories to the list. This is important because many web directories die out over time, and you always want to be able to update your list so you don’t waste your time with inactive ones.

One thing I really liked about the software program was that it comes with over 2,200 web directories already in the database. The only thing is that you only get 350 directories if you download the free version. The list of 2,200 only comes with the gold version which sells for $79.

Directory Submitter Reputation

The Directory Submitter is a solid software program that does what it promises. It’s not the best directory submission software in the market, but it’s one of cheaper ones. I would’ve liked an automatic submission report and better status reporting (which I’ve seen built in to other programs).

The strong point of the program is that it comes with a list of over 2,200 directories which is more than most of the other programs out there. It would really take you a long time to build up such a list so this is an immense value. If you’re on a budget, you can opt for the free version which only comes with a list of only 350 directories.

Customers have expressed positive reviews for Directory Submitter. One minor problem that’s been reported is that some of the PR values displayed for the directories are not accurate. I haven’t encountered this problem yet, so this may have been from an older version. Overall, Brad’s software is a solid investment and will save you time on your directory submissions.

Pretty good results

I have used the Directory Submitter Standard which allows you to submit your site to up to 350 directories. I am pretty satisfied with the results. A nice, quick way of submitting your sites to various directories.

Before I used Directory submitter, my website wasn't even indexed by Google. I believe Directory submitter had a role to play in my site getting indexed faster. Also, I have noticed an increase in traffic after submitting to various directories using this software. The best feature is that it allows you to keep track of which directories you have submitted your site to and when.

The only drawback I found was the pricing of the Gold version of the software. The price of $76 is a little too much. Overall a great tool any website owner can have.

Directory Submitter a handy resource

I have been using Directory Submitter Software for a couple of years and very much appreciate the convenience of the system. It has definitely helped me to increase the backlinks to my websites.

I started using it when I had just one website and I can tell you, I was so pleased when I discovered you could set it up for multiple projects! That came in so handy once I started adding additional websites to my Internet Marketing portfolio.

I will admit that there are numerous directories in the system that are old or dead, but I believe the directory is updated from time to time to clean these out. Even so, I have been able to quickly and easily submit my sites to hundreds of directories infinitely quicker than if I had to hunt for those directories on my own! I recommend Directory Submitter.

Effective software but there's many "bad" links to directories

I have tried the free version and did not upgrade. The reason for this is that 1 out of every 4 or 5 directory links either were no longer existing or they required reciprocal links (you must put the directory's link on your own website and then submit to the directory). This is not favorable if you are looking to promote some affiliate sites, even if you purchase your own domains and forward them, you are likely not able to put those links on the sites and even if you could, it would make your website appear "trashy" with hundreds of links, just to get into the directories.

Submitting to directories does increase traffic but you should also pay attention to other traffic methods, and together you'll see great results.

Overall, I think the Directory Submitter should be given a try by everyone that comes across it.

I'm Stoked and Now I am going to Upgrade

I downloaded the free version of this product following a recommendation from someone on this site. At first, I found myself sitting there wondering what to do next, but then I started clicking on the directories. Some were not valid anymore and some did require a reciprocal link. Others reviewed your link faster if you gave a reciprocal link or paid for the service. However, I was still able to submit to many of the sites on the 350 list. In fact, I am still going through the submission process on the last 50. Traffic to my website has definitely increased, showing me that it is definitely worth submitting your website to many directories. As some of the sites you submit the link to say it will take a few weeks to index your link, the traffic will only increase to my site in the future. This program does help you. I am stoked by the results I can already see from the free version, so I want the upgrade for $79. You can also promote this product and receive commissions, but I haven't really explored how that works yet.

Free version was so-so

I have tried the free version, and I have to say that it was pretty obvious that Brad Callen does not comb through the list to remove the useless directories. Many were either no longer directories, no longer free, or required a reciprocal link. I was only able to submit to about 1/3 of the directories listed.

The directory submitter itself was easy to use. Sometimes it didn't go straight to the "submit a site" page, but usually it did. When I did stumble upon a working, free directory it was very simple - select a category, prove that you're not a bot, and click "submit".

But in the case of this product, I do have to say: You get what you pay for(or didn't pay for).

Great Help For New Site Owners

I downloaded the free version of this software. It provides 300 plus directories. I experienced submitting my site manually on site directories so I can say this software is heaven sent to me. The steps are easy; you just have to start a project, fill up the necessary information and browse the list of directories. I like the fact that you can sort out the category list by their Page Rank and if it is free or not. Although there are some directories on the list that are not active anymore, I have nothing bad to say about the software. I got it for free, why do I have to complain. Now I am saving up to buy the upgraded version.

Not as useful as it appears

Directory Submission is not for the faint of heart. It is grueling work which requires a great deal of preparation. Directory Submitter boasts of 350 directories on the free version and 1300 directories on the expensive paid version. It is not as simple as it appears. 350 directories look like a lot of backlinks, but there is a catch somewhere. On most of these directories, you need to provide a reciprocal link which negates the 1-way links claim. Another thing is that a lot of the directories listed are worthless because they no longer work, have exceeded their bandwidth, etc. I have used another directory submission software in the past which submits automatically to over a hundred directories, unlike the manual method in Directory Submitter. Even then, it was hard work because you have to respond to the emails in order to validate your submission. This tool is not a step up for me and I can cite a number of better tools out there which do a much better job.

Software is great, List is huge and so valuable, Price is not for the shallow pocket

The software itself is very good. The ability to submit to so many directories is so valuable. One ways links is a surefire way to improve your SEO almost overnight.

It's a great time saver; you could spend days looking for all these directories and several more days actually sending in all your info.

Along with being able to handle more than one site, it makes it a great tool for anyone making a profession of being online.

Being able to sort by Alexa Rank and Google Page rank is very handy, if you're really reaching for top, submitting your site or blog to the best of the best is a must do.

The free Trial gives you a great taste of what it can do and give you a great boost to your traffic really quick.

The only downside is the price. Being above the $75 mark means it's not for your average site or blog. If you don't have proper advertising or a way to generate money with your site or blog, then this is a solid hit to the pocketbook.
