The Duct Tape Marketing Ultimate Marketing System is a home study course created by John Jantsch. This course expands on John’s Duct Tape Marketing strategies and takes marketers through a step by step blueprint. There are 14 lessons that takes you from researching your market to building a following on the Internet.
It’s a huge challenge to get a small business started, but the real challenge lies in effectively getting customers and earning a good profit margin for your efforts. Most small business owners either don’t have a plan or only rely on a few strategies to bring them business. When their few sources of their income dries up, they are put in a difficult situation that could potentially ruin their business.
John Jantsch has worked with countless clients on their business and has come up with a strategy called Duct Tape Marketing (which rely on high profit low expense strategies). The Ultimate Marketing System is a 14-lesson manual and 4-audio CD course that goes through John’s system for getting more clients and growing your business.
The first 3 lessons start off by helping you identify your customers and stand out from their competition. Most people will already have an image or selling message but it will most likely be similar to their competition. What these lessons do is to help you develop a unique message that targets your best customers. You also go through the process of forming an image that builds trust and authority in your marketplace.
The next 3 lessons go through your marketing message. What I found interesting about John’s strategy is that he recommends you educate your prospects in your marketing pieces instead of the typical feature/benefits angle. This gives you credibility and the opportunity to explain why you are the best choice for the prospect.
John also uses stories to help your prospects related to your products and services in a personal manner. Prospects feel more connected and are able to identify themselves if your story conveys that that you understand their issues and problems. Case studies and testimonials further help you close the sale and help feel prospects confident about going with you.
All the lessons so far sets up the foundation for the third part of the course. If you don’t have the right message set up beforehand, it’s harder to make your advertising work. John’s focus is on using advertising to bring in high quality leads. He then leverages your existing clients by using referral marketing. To top it off, there is a strong emphasis on using public relations to increase awareness and reach.
The last part of the course goes into using the Internet to get targeted customers. Everything from content to, SEO, to list building is discussed. To take it further there’s other elements such as online PR, RSS, pod casts, and blogs. The best part and last part of the course is the discussion on using local search sites to get prospects right where they are looking. Sites such as Yelp, Google Maps really help you hone in when the timing is right.
There are several bonuses which mainly consist of small reports or interviews from contributing authors such as Sean D’Souza, Bob Serling and Aaron Wall. The one bonus that really stands out is the 12-hour audio seminar going over a lot of the material that is taught in the main course.
The Duct Tape Marketing Ultimate Marketing System has received positive reviews from customers. John delivered on the content and laid out a system that helps small business owners build a strong foundation and keep improving it. I really like the fact that most of the strategies are either free or cheap marketing methods. Once you get some things in place, you can start outsourcing to work more on your business.
I do wish John put in more offline marketing strategies. The topic of using joint ventures and incentive systems are missing in the course. I think those are the two biggest forms of free marketing. Putting a joint venture system where a related business sells your services or refers a customer to you in return for you doing the same can really bring you huge long term profits. Aside from that, I think the course is really solid, and I highly recommend it for small business owners.

-Duct Tape Marketing- I believe this package does come with a few good tips, and it certainly helped me start my new business a couple of months ago. It would be the product for you if you do not have much of a clue about starting a business. If you have had some experience and have a small feeling, this package might only give you some tips, (Which it did for me). If all you get from this is tips, it is not worth the money. In all this product is great for people who don't have a clue on how to run a small business. (I sold my business, which was a photo scanning shop recently, but I do owe it to this guide to giving me some pointers). |

Decent product, but I got a refund All small business who are trying to expand by using the power of the internet should have this report. Covering a nice amount of information finding your target market to public relations. All covered in 4 modules, valuable information was found inside each with 3 separate lessons to assist you with the initial marketing faze for your business. I'm not really sure why I purchased this course, maybe because I was looking for a way to promote my offline restaurant business, but the price tag was very hefty for such a report. It was pretty good in covering the basics on marketing with the less amount of money possible, but it didn't really cover any advanced techniques on getting passed the initial form of marketing. For $300 this report($400 for the printed copy) should of had way more information that it did. I think it is worth a try though, I did actually end up utilizing the money back guarantee as I wasn't very pleased with the product as a whole.

A decent purchase When setting up my own business a few years back, me and my colleagues purchased this as an introduction to marketing. The books and cds included were found to be very helpful, with a clear layout, good communication of information, and useful advice. However, buying this product alone is not recommended, as it doesn't cover everything you would want it to, so I would suggest purchasing this in conjunction with other such packages. |
