OptIn Comments Description

OptIn Comments is a Wordpress plugin designed by the "ghetto" internet marketer Ian Fernando. The function of OptIn Comments is to build your email list by using the unconventional approach of automatically capturing your commenters name and email address and sending it to the autoresponder of your choice. This way each time somebody comments your blog and uses a legitimate email address, you receive a possible subscription to your email list.

OptIn Comments Detailed Overview

If you're an internet marketer, chances are you're looking for every opportunity to build your email list. A bigger email list equals more potential sales which ultimately leads to more cash in your bank. There are many convential ways to get people to sign up for your email lists, but Ian Fernando's OptIn Comments is different and quite useful especially if you have a Wordpress Blog.

OptIn Comments is a Wordpress Plugin that helps you build you email list by combining your comment form with your email subscription form. It's actually not too hard of a concept to grasp. Every time somebody comments on your blog, they enter their name and their email address, and the plugin then takes their name and their email address and sends it to your autoresponder (aweber for example). And now you have another potential subscriber or lead.

Like any other products there are pros and cons to OptIn Comments. The pros are that if you have a Wordpress Blog, it's pretty simple to set up and the fact that it's another way to get quality subscribers to join your email list. The cons are that if you don't have a Wordpress Blog, it's of no use to you. If you just recently started your blog, don't expect to see results unless you get a lot of commenters. If your blog doesn't get comments, then the plugin is rendered absolutely useless.

OptIn Comments probably should not completely replace your standard OptIn form, but maybe be used in conjunction with it. For $57, it's not the cheapest plugin on the market. If you get quite a bit of traffic and even more comments, this plugin could definitely come in handy. But if you don't get too that much traffic and don't have a Wordpress blog, you may want to think twice about making the purchase. If you do decide to purchase it, know that it comes with an 8-week money back guarantee.

OptIn Comments Reputation

Ian Fernando has released quite a few quality products in his day, and this is one of them. It does exactly what it says and works seamlessly with Wordpress. It's definitely a great product to use if you have a growing blog and receive quite a few comments daily. When John Chow stands behind you and your products, you have to have some credibility.

Good service but slow support

I have used this optin service with pretty good results. However on multiple occasions I have emailed customer support and waited for days for a response. I think the product and support could be better but for the price it works pretty well for my promotions. Not much else to say.

Produces email lists - but not popularity

I recently started blogging with the purpose of getting affiliates which is why I bought OptIn comments. 5 minutes after ordering I received the program, but I had to google to find out what to do. All I received was 1 file; not like some other products I've bought online where there's an installation manual. However I got it installed and I found a help file online so I knew how to get started and 20 minutes later I had it up and working. The plugin works without any problems; once installed it adds the emails automatically which saves you time.

It works as promised since I simply add the emails to my subscription list and thereafter I send out promotional emails. This makes people get angry, but I just use my blog for promotion; not for popularity so it works for me.

Works, but back fires quickly

I've stumbled upon OptIn Comments when I was looking for ways to increase my blog's usefulness. It looked pretty good and I was interested in getting more subscriptions to advertisements however I was quite wary of the legal issue this plugin poses.

I decided to go for it anyway and ordered the plugin. I received it the next day and installed it in my wordpress system without any problem. Configuring was a little harder to do because there is no GUI that explains what is required, there's only an ini file that needs editing and without any manual or instructions whatsoever it wasn't all that straightforward to set it up correctly. After some trial and error I tested by making a comment with a valid e-mail address that was not on my mailing list and sure it enough the e-mail has been added.

I've also informed myself of the legal issue here and apparently these masked opt in practices are illegal in most countries. I've also received some very negative feedback from customers afterwards so I had to remove the plugin in order to prevent more damage to my customer base.

While it works it's unethical and makes your customer base pretty angry which in turn made me lose a lot visitors to my blog. It might be good to spread more info but it back fires pretty quickly.
