Clicksor Description

Clicksor is a contextual program that allows Internet marketers to monetize their site by displaying advertiser ads in their content. Clicksor offers many different ways of advertising from inline text links, banner ads, and more. Publishers can also use as an alternative with Google Adsense and get paid 60% of the revenue from Clicksor’s advertisers.

Clicksor Detailed Overview

Contextual advertising has become a popular option for Internet marketers and webmasters. Rather than using affiliate programs or getting sponsors, it’s a much easier way to track and monetize your site. It can also be used with in conjunction with other forms of monetization.

Clicksor offers a different type of contextual advertising. Rather than show an ad block with a product description or text ad, inline text links are integrated inside your content. Advertisers can target keywords across the network and place different kinds of ads such as text banners, graphic banners, pop unders, layered ads, and inter-ads (a short commercial-like ad that comes up when you click towards the next page). Clicksor’s flagship product is their inline text links.

There are several advantages with advertising with Clicksor. For one, you will get traffic for much less than what you pay for pay per click advertising. In fact, it is a fraction of the cost for most markets. You can use their inline text links by adding keywords you want to target. But it’s important to choose wisely by targeted keywords with 2 to 3 words. Anything more than that and you won’t get much traffic.

Although it is cheaper than PPC advertising, the conversions are much lower. You really have to think about what the average surfer is thinking about when he hovers over the text link. If the surfer clicks on the keyword and sees an untargeted ad, they will abandon the ad link without a second thought. I see many advertisers using the broadest keyword with Clicksor only to report a poor ROI.

One bad thing about Clicksor is that you have to target sitewide rather than by page like Google Adsense. So if you want to invest in Clicksor you will need to do it with a shotgun approach and have a good budget set aside to test if the network is worth it for you.

As an advertiser, you can use keyword or channel matching. I explained using keywords before so I’ll explain the channel matching. You can choose from 18 main categories and drill down to 200 sub-categories if you want to go for a wide audience. You can get a lot of traffic very quickly with channel matching but you must be careful and keep track of your statistics.

If you’re a publisher and want to experiment with Clicksor, let me explain how it works. The flagship advertising is the inline linking. Whenever a visitor hovers over the link a little pop over comes up with an ad relating to that keyword. You earn 60% of the revenue when that ad is clicked.

The feedback for the publisher program seems to be mostly negative. While some the publishers have seen good results, the majority of their publishers have reported poor clickthrough rates and lower earnings than Google Adsense. Because they have limited advertisers and don’t have any quality score system in place, the untargeted ads also attribute to the low CTR. I also feel that their inline text links has loading problems when I tested it using broadband connection.

Note:  If you're on IM Report Card because you're looking for a way to make money online, then you should check out our top recommendation.  It's the best method we've found that anyone can use to earn income online.  Click here to learn more!

Clicksor Reputation

In conclusion, Clicksor is a decent contextual program to monetize your site but you are probably better off using other services. The majority of publishers have reported poor click through rates and thus poor earnings using Clicksor so you should use other contextual services for monetization.

There are more benefits for the advertisers as they have access to a huge pool of traffic and can reach a wide audience. The ads start running as quickly as 24 hours, so you can see the results without wasting time. Conversion rates are much lower than PPC but the click costs can be extremely low. If you’ve exhausted your main sources of traffic, you should try testing Clicksor as it bring you a large amount of traffic.

Good ad network

I joined clicksor as an advertiser and I think they offer value for money for the advertisers, about it replacing google adsense I don't think they are up to par. I don't think it is as effective for the webmasters as it is for the advertisers. I like the concept of it being a network that publishers can choose from variety of niches. The down side is most affiliates prefer to have freedom to promote offers however they choose fit not just through their blog. But overall it helps if you choose a specific niche to suits your content, so your audience gets to respond more to the offers. Is worth trying.

One of the way to make money with your blog

I was the publisher of clicksor, I already get paid twice from clicksor, clicksor has a lot of advertising methods, there ppc, cpm, pop-up , text link, etc.

But my advice is do not use all methods of advertising, just use one or two methods, because it is not good if your blog or web has too many ads.

And the value of earning is pretty good.

I give up on Clicksor

As a member comment above, clicksor is not fit for small publishers like me. Here is a part quoted from clicksor agreement "No payments will be issued for any amounts less than $50US. Any publisher payment that is unclaimed 6 months after the issue date will not be compensated". Lucky for me, I've just participated in clicksor for 10 days. My site got only 500 unique visitors/day. How can I meet their requirement. As a member said above "clicksor is a thief".

Under Par Traffic Quality

I would advise not using Clicksor for advertising.

I ran 4 different high converting Neverblue campaigns on their CPC banner platform, with horrible results.

Campaigns that converted 1 in 30 on Google and other top search networks didn't convert 1-500!

I usually don't write reviews, but I hope this helps other affiliates. The traffic quality is terrible. Lots of clicks, but no results for proven campaigns.

And if you're wondering, I copied the campaigns exactly. Demo, geo, gender, age, etc..

I have a hard time believing that Clicksor's traffic is legit, or that the quality is just that bad.

Other strange thing was Neverblue recorded all clicks, but SHOWED 0 IMPRESSIONS! Very strange. Neverblue's tracking platform is fantastic. Never seen this before! 1500 clicks, with 1 impression.

Yeah, definitely odd. Luckily I only wasted a few hundred dollars.

Hope this helps, and take care you guys.

Clicksor Popunders triggered Avast as being malware

The video tutorial that explains how to user Clicksor is informative, but not professionally produced. But, that isn't why I rate Clicksor with a grade of "F". For that, see below.

My very first experience with Clicksor generated a pop-under ad that triggered Avast as being malware. That was six months ago.

Recently, I gave Clicksor a try again on a different site, this time integrated with Joomla. Same problem. Clicksor generated a pop-under that was caught by Avast as being a dangerous threat.

I removed Clicksor and won't try it again until I hear that they stop using ads that trigger Avast and other anti-virus software.

I'm disappointed.

Clicksor is a thief!

I decided to give a try to clicksor so I registered and started publishing ads 5 months ago. My website receives about 500-600 unique visitors a day.

Today I got an email from clicksor (quoted bellow).

"Your publisher site (http://www. my-website.com) has yet to meet our minimum requirement of $50 since your site was submitted five (6) months ago. Please note that this site does not meet minimum total earning requirement for more than half year will be removed from the network. "

Oh really?! Now you're telling me? After 5 months? You could not calculate a two week average and notify me in time so I don't drive traffic from my site for wain?

The other thing... At the beginning (for about one month) the earnings where 0.25 - 0.45 a day. Now it is 0.1 - 0.15 a day! My account is at $34 now.

Clicksor is quite aware that the majority of publishers are "small players" and their account will never reach $50 in time. That is why such vital information from the publishers point of view is put in the one mile long agreement. To make sure people never read that!

If you decide to give clicksor a try make sure your one week average goes WELL ABOVE $120 (calculating in a 6 months) because if your revenues for some coordinated reason drop for more than 70% in the third month you'll not reach the $50.

In one word... Misleading thieves!

Low Payment Rate

I used clicksor with my blog just trying it out. But I later discovered that no matter how high my views and clicks are, the payment is still low, so I opted out. Unlike google adsense, here you specify the kind of ad you want to add to your site. If you just want to try out ads on your site, you might give it a try and see if it's good for you, as for me, I wouldn't waste my time on it when others pay higher.

A Good Alternative to Google's?

I applied for Clicksor a few months ago because I want to have another form and additional revenue for my high trafficked blog. They got nice ad ideas and innovations that are not found on other networks. The inline ads are good for my posts and it really is a good earner.

What disappoints me is the low payout they have. Compared to another network like this, the same advertisement varied greatly in price. If only I have seen this before, I would have signed up for the other one for that payout. I think that's what publishers really want: A higher price.

The payout is on time and the support is good, but what sets this aside is the percentage they are giving to the publishers which is the source of their income. They must give a larger chunk to the publishers.

Overall, not so good for me.

Not very impressed

After having used Clicksor ads on a few of my sites for a little more then 3 years, I have to say I am a little disappointed with them.

In the beginning they were groundbreaking on the ad formats and one of the first(If not the first) to provide interstitial advertising. After the years not much has changed and it shows in their advertising volume. It often happens that they can not fill all spots you use when you have a decent site traffic wise and the ads are not very well targeted to the content, even though they state they are.

On many occasions I caught advertisers adding malicious code into the ads and must say that Clicksor support always responded promptly and took care of it so I can not say the support is bad.

Payments for ads displayed are prompt and they have several payment options available. Unfortunately they pay a lot less then other similar services, so I am finally thinking about switching to another service.

They do allow adult sites, but for that type of sites there are many far better alternatives available.

All considered I can not say they are providing a bad service, just a mediocre one, so it deserves a Mediocre C rating in my book.

Not worth it

I used clicksor for my warez site at one point of time. It took some time to set it up because you have to manually choose the ads you want Clicksor to display. It had displayed mostly flash annoying ads. I had got a lot of clicks and views but the amount was really little and at the end of the month I had got only $1.67, it wasn't worth it as I had got much more from other ad providers. I regret using this ad provider. If you plan to add this ad provider to your website, I suggest you do not, there are many better ad providers out there.

This is a good alternative to google adsense

Well, I have been working with this network past many years, and I can tell that if you are unable to get into Adsense then this could be a perfect alternative for that. They have good tracking and pay on time, and the important thing is they have a good number of advertisers.

Decrease in my traffic

I was so overwhelmed when I first registered for Clicksor with a hope to earn good money from their advertisement. But after trying it out for one I simply said "OH MY GOD! What a blunder".

Their pay rate is very low. Somewhere their rules are not justified at all if they wanna compete with Adsense and no way can stand in front of them. Their pop up ads are the most annoying and irritating ones and for which I had a decrease in traffic.

May it work great for porn or semi porn sites, but not at all good for niche sites like mine. So overall I am not satisfied with their service.

CPC Rates Are Too Low

After using Google Adsense for quite a bit of time, I decided to have a change in networks, so I swapped to Clicksor. Big Mistake!

They pay too little for the quality of traffic I was sending to them, I was generating a click through rate of around 9% and what I earned was not even half of what I would have with Adsense. I gave up after 1 month of promoting them because of how little they pay.

On a high note, the fact that they pay so little is because of the cheap pricing of advertising. They do not charge too much for advertising opposed to Adsense and Bidvertiser. This can be useful if you want some fast, cheap, targeted traffic to your website or blog. Overall, I deed them great for advertising, but very poor for publishing.

Adsense adds sense, Clicksor tricks more

Trying to show the world that Google isn't everything in the world paid dearly. I found this site and without doing a little bit of requisite research about the site, I jumped in. My sites now saw a site-wide phenomenon called Clicksor, and the page-by approach of Adsense went bye-bye.

How I wish I hadn't done that.

You see the traffic dipped so low, you would have confused them with off the cliff! And with the various time-related issues with restarting Adsense, especially when you have dumped it recently, my sites are as lonely as Dracula. I go to my sites to see the number of clicks and literally bang my head against the wall. Why? WHY?

I'll pass on clicksor and stick with adsense

After using Adsense for a while on my two main sites, I also added some Clicksor ads to shake things up a bit. I heard that Clicksor brought a lot of traffic so I gave it a shot only to be upset at the quality of traffic it seemed to be sending. I was getting 4 percent more clicks than my Adsense ads but much less conversions. They payout much lower than Adsense per click and the support was mediocre. I needed to ask a question about one of their ads on my site showing up as a blank banner and it took me a whole week to get the answer. My advice would be to just stick with the more reputable Adsense.

Lots of traffic in such a short amount of time!

As an advertiser? I loved how I can get a surge of quality traffic at relatively inexpensive CPC rates.

Strangely I can get thousands of clicks from them, while only getting 30-40 from Adwords.

Arguably Adwords does provide higher quality traffic. But the conversion of traffic from Clicksor isn't too bad either.

Just another adsense alternative

I have had Clicksor on a few on my sites and it worked fine. The ads took a while to show up but they did eventually. Google Adsense, however, still pays more per click than this as well as many other alternatives. If you can't use Google Adsense then I would try this but not if you already have an Adsense account, on account of that it works better and you earn more per click. I think Adbrite is the best alternative out of the many, but that is just my opinion, but Clicksor is not far behind.

Clicksor Is Great

This was another good ad program I liked. The best part was the inline text context ad. An ad is put in the middle of your text writing and when a user points the pointer near or above the text it shows an ad to the user. Some users, even in my case for the first time, thought that was some link directing to a different page, but actually it was an ad. Only thing I didn’t like was sometimes the ad won’t appear. It looked liked I never put an ad on my website. So due to this problem earnings are reduced, also you ought to have good traffic on your website to use this service. They won’t let you use it if you are in a beginning stage.

I like how this program works

The best thing about them is that they don’t have too many conditions for accepting new websites. My websites were new and I didn’t have too much traffic. I tried Clicksor and my traffic improved. I really like this program because it’s easy to use. I used it because I wanted an alternative to Adsense. As an internet marketer I find it very easy to monetize my websites. I also work with affiliate programs and I must say that Clicksor is a nice alternative. I can easily keep track of my own earnings.

I like how this program works. They are very different than anything I have seen before. They are just integrating inline text links inside my content. This makes the website look more friendly. The visitors will not be blinded by all those ads they usually see all over.

No Ads Showing

I found this in my search for Google Adsense alternatives. After signing up, I immediately placed their ad widgets in my blogs. I was really disappointed though after more than a week or two and no ads has been showing and there has been no earnings for me - so I stopped it. I just don't know if whether it's because of my niche, or because they don't have many ads to show.

I recently visited a really popular site and found some of their widgets in the page as well, but there were no ads showing also.

Hmmmmm. I wonder if anyone has made money from Clicksor. If there is, is it worth it?

Not as good as Adsense

Clicksor is a program that allows users to make money from displaying ads in their content. It offers many different ad methods, such as text links, banner ads, and more. Publishers can also use Google Adsense and get paid 60% of the revenue. I tried out this program for a website that I had, in addition to my Adsense ads. Unfortunately, I didn’t make a lot of money from this website. The payout is $50, but it took me a couple of months to earn this amount. Also, Clicksor is very picky about who they pick to display their ads. You can’t be using a free web host, and you need to have at least 5,000 visitors to your website every day. Overall, Clicksor is ok, but Adsense is still better for making money.

Don't Click-sor

I tried Clicksor out a few months back on a Site Build It website I worked with. I was impressed by how professional the program looked, the 6 different types of ads offered, and the large database of businesses to choose from. Because I have a lot of pages connected to my main Site Build It page, there was plenty of room to implement Clicksor ads, but unfortunately they didn't net much result. I liked how the payment was at $50 compared to Google's $100; however, I came nowhere close to meeting this over the months that the ads were set up.

I don't like how strict Clicksor is for the everyday user; it's very exclusive. You can't use a free web host or have less than 5k visitors to your page every day. Also, you're not allowed to mail out anything from your site that could be confused with spam when you have Clicksor implemented.

The 10% referral commission is good, but with restrictions like those above, who are you going to get to sign up under you to profit from it?

Not worth it, there are better sites

I was looking for a new Adsense method, and a friend suggested I try Clicksor. The problem is she didn’t try it and she goes suggesting I try it. So, I did try it. And let me tell you, it didn’t help a bit! A bad experience happened when I was trying to load into my website. Half way through the loading process, the page freezes and an ad pops up. There was a little skip ad button which led to my website. I was really disappointed. They used my website to promote their ads?!?! I quit right after that. It wasn’t worth my time really.

Nothing special

When looking for Google Adsense alternatives I came across Clicksor. I registered with one of my websites to try their service. A major problem was the ads slowed down my site. That's a big problem because I don't like visiting websites that take ages to load, so I don't want my visitors experiencing the same with my site. Another big minus point is that the revenue is much less than with Google Adsense. Furthermore the conversion rate was really bad. I stopped using Clicksor because they simply don't work for me.

There Are Better Advertising Companies For Publishers

I just did a review of AdOnion, which has the same operators as Clicksor, so I might as well review this site too. I tried using Clicksor late 2007 as I was looking for good Adsense alternatives. There was so much hype for Clicksor back then that I was convinced this program might be worth a try. So try I did and sat back to watch the results on my site. They are less scrupulous in rules than Adsense, so I thought that was a good sign. Well, it wasn't.

It's not that they don't pay. They DO. And mostly on time, so that's one plus. But they pay even less than Adsense, and, taking from my experiences on Adsense, that's next to rubbish earnings. Their site per se is decently organized, but I rate their support a D because they are not exactly the speediest supports in town. Also, the inline ads (which I had) takes forever to load. Clicksor in general makes your pages load slower, main reason why I don't like the program and I'm never coming back. I know that was what most irritated the heck out of my visitors, so I removed it because I didn't want to lose my precious readers.

Although I do not abhor this site as much as I do AdOnion, I still wouldn't choose it over any other advertising programs out there. There are better, trust me. If you are looking at contextual advertising on your site as a main revenue source, do not, and I mean, DO NOT even bother with considering Clicksor. If you don't trust my review, try Googling it and you will find yourself faced with hundreds of forums and sites discussing Clicksor and how it's not worth your while.

Fair standard advertising model but with perks

If you are looking for an alternative to google adwords, adsense, etc., then give them a go. They do have less expectations in terms of which sites they accept and which they rejected compared to any other major advertising network. I did have a go with them and even though my end result wasn't any kind of jump in traffic, it did somehow improve my ranking in a few search engines. And on another note, I did very much like the layout and functionality of their site. I was able to find everything fairly quickly under the "members" page, and I was happy to see a detailed breakdown of all my hits.

Not that impressed

I recently created a new website & was looking for a different company to display ads. I came across this site that offered various types of ads. 1 being a full page ad. This ad type is recommended as being a high paying format but be warned as I've come to experience, it hijacks your visitors browser. Meaning that when a visitor clicks to goto your site, your page starts to load & then half way through the full page ad comes up instead of your site. You must then click skip this ad to get your page to load. I didn't know this until my host emailed me about it. I have mentioned this to clicksor & have yet to receive an answer back from them so support is not very good. As for the rest of their ads (text & banner) they are fully customizable & content relative which is very important for niche marketing. Overall I rate them at just ok. I will give them 1 more month to properly evalute the earnings based on CTR etc.
