Doba Description

Doba is a membership site that provides Internet marketers with access to wholesalers and drop shippers. The site is a great resource for people who want ideas on what to sell online and also those who are already selling products through eBay or through their own ecommerce stores. The site claims they have access to over 1.5 million products and that their products have margins as high as 75%.

Doba Detailed Overview

With easy tools to build ecommerce sites and with sites like eBay, more and more people are opting to set up shop online. This has created a huge demand for wholesales and dropshippers. But it’s very difficult to find reliable suppliers and get access to a wide variety of products to choose from. Doba’s service attempts to solve their problem with their directory.

They claim that their customers have access to products with high profit margins and huge selection of up to 1.5 million products to choose from. The company has been mentioned in high profiles outlets such as CNN, Forbes, Inc. Magazine, Entrepreneur Magazine, and more. But the question is: does their service deliver and how do they fare compared to the competition? Let’s find out.

You start using the service by clicking on the catalog icon. You can either browse through the categories or enter a keyword into the search box. As you look through the individual products, you’ll be presented with the wholesale price, MSRP, shipping cost, and drop ship fee. You also get a description, SKU, suppler info, and item ID for reference.

Everything was easy to use and the interface was like a dream when compared to other wholesale directories (which are very messy). The great thing about Doba is that you can buy it directly from Doba whereas most directories will usually provide you a link to the supplier and you’ll have to work with them individually.

Of course, you’ll have the ability to either dropship or buy in bulk. Doba guarantees the best wholesale prices but the caveat is that this applies to individual products. You may be able to get better deals if you find liquidation offers or huge bulk buys. I found many high quality name brands and popular products that were current hot sellers without any problems.

What’s great is that there are training tools to help you find great products and set up your own store. There are many ebooks, articles, and videos to keep you busy and growing. What I really like about Doba is their integrated eBay tool which allows you to take a product you find and list it right on eBay. I had a great experience using Doba and it was the absolute best wholesaling directory I’ve used.

Note:  If you're on IM Report Card because you're looking for a way to make money online, then you should check out our top recommendation.  It's the best method we've found that anyone can use to earn income online.  Click here to learn more!

Doba Reputation

Overall, Doba has received positive reviews from many users but not all the feedback is positive. The biggest complaint from customers is that although the individual pricing is great, it cannot compete with the eBay listing prices whereas other directories can because they become much cheaper in bulk. It can also be expensive as prices start at $49.95. Other than that, I highly recommend Doba. The interface is so easy to use, the support is great, and there is a huge selection of products waiting to be sold.

Need to be careful

Need to be careful when drop shipping products using their platform and check how many has left before you list it in your auction because it sucks when you have sold it on eBay but drop shipper ran out of stock so you can't ship it to your customer. You can get products 3% cheaper from Doba if you use their PrePay service, it is not a lot but still if you're selling expensive items can save you some money. Consider that you have to pre-pay for items that you're buying through their PrePay service so do this only for items that you know will sell otherwise you might end up with products you can't sell.

eCommerce tools I use:

Terapeak | Hammertap | Worldwide Brands | Doba | Salehoo

Why bother with a drop ship company?

Why would you pay a third party a monthly subscription fee to allow you to buy products from them at prices higher than you can buy them for from a true distributor. Another thought, every time you send them the name of YOUR customer, what do you think they do with that name???? After looking at Doba.com extensively I realized that their service was only beneficial to them, not me!

I've Been With Doba With For a Couple Months Now

I agree with others who have commented here, Doba is a great service but their drop-ship prices are way too high. The irony is that Doba customer service sometimes calls me to ask why I haven't made even one sale yet. Ha! I now have an e-commerce site and I'm working with a company to help me find more reasonable drop-shippers. Best Wishes to all of you but as for me I grade Doba an A+ for customer service, but a D+ for the drop-ship service that they provide.

Signed up for the trial and canceled all within 30 minutes

Well, here I go again. Joining a venture to try to make some $$$ to pay the bills and feed my animals. I signed up with Doba with all intentions of sticking it out until the end of the 14 day trial. Once I signed up, they kept trying to up sell me on product buying programs, one with a $50 gas card reward and the other with a $25 gift certificate. Anyway, I passed on both of those and proceeded to the products so I could compare them side by side with Amazon and EBay listings. First of all, their "wholesale" prices were quite high but what killed the deal for me was the sky high shipping charges! There's no reason for these companies to be making money on the shipping aspect of this. With a massive number of sellers shipping for free, you just can't compete. I didn't even try to list not even the first product knowing my price would be high and with the absurdly high shipping costs, I knew it would make the product way too expensive. Making a couple of bucks profit isn't worth my time or effort even if I had made a sale at all.

Bottom line, their prices need to be more competitive with the big auction and selling sites as well as their shipping charges which will sink them one day I assure you. And for the new folks trying to get into this, they don't have a chance whatsoever with this program.

Doba - Scam & Fake Tie With Auction Listing Employment Agency

We got hooked with the line "Make $75 an hour without selling - just post products for major manufacturers who will pay. We wanted to work and are willing to put in the time - in an honest venture. What we got was a long winded "training package" that had a bunch of poorly crafted tests and 16, yeah 16 2+ hour recordings of training and interviews. A bunch of hype and no solid information. We finally "qualified" to go to "the next level" after our training and got the "secret code" to start working. What a scam ! We were "sent" to Doba and there found absolutely worthless materials and products. Then on a Sunday night - we got the most rude, aggressive call from a "program coach" demanding we give the caller personal income, debt and family information so we could "be qualified" for a "program success story". What a crock ! The guy started off slimy and went down hill from there ! Identity theft, scam artist, slick operator take your pick. We immediately called customer service. They responded - "sorry" we will tell management. We asked for our money back $197, hard earned dollars ---- we are still waiting after three weeks. Do not get taken - this is an absolute rip off and theft of the highest order in my opinion. We want to work and can work hard, this outfit simply took advantage of our honest desire to improve our situation. That has been our experience - we hope you read this before you spend your hard earned money on this hype.

Just Couldn't Profit

I have always been interested in drop shopping. I stumbled across Doba and since they offered a 7 day trial I decided to try it out. First, their customer service is outstanding. Any question I had was answered promptly and in very good fashion. Their website is extremely professional and I had no trouble finding the products that I wanted to try and sell on eBay. The problem was that the prices offered by Doba just didn’t cut it. Profit margins were going to be very slim. On top of that, when I would do a search on eBay I would often find the product I was trying to drop ship and it was at a cheaper price. I simply couldn’t profit. So I called customer service and canceled my account. They offered me a chance to try Doba for a longer period, but I refused since it just wasn’t worth it. They gave me no problems; they went ahead and canceled my account.

Good customer service, but otherwise not very useful

I did the 7 day trial of Doba at the same time I was trying another Drop Shipper (Shopster). I was impressed straight away. The interface was very easy for me to navigate. It looked extremely professional, and I enjoyed the . cvs feeds to mass-load items via eBay's Turbolister tool. The trouble was, where I was actually selling items from Shopster (Whose site is nowhere near as user-friendly but only costs 19.95 a month), I hadn't sold a thing from Doba. Almost anything I could find there, I found at other places for less. I called customer service on day 6 to cancel my trial, and the operator was more than pleasant. I was offered an additional 7 days (to make a 14 day free trial) so that I would have more time to try it out. Still no sales. Day 12 I called customer service to cancel my trial again. I was offered yet another extension, but this time for an additional 14 days. I figured I'd keep on trying. After 4 weeks, though, I still hadn't made any sales on Doba even though I was making them with other items. All in all, I just couldn't justify spending the monthly fees on Doba when I had already LOST money in wasted eBay fees on the free trial. I wanted it to work out, I really did. It's a great company, but the products and prices just aren't practical.

Honest compay but prices too high to profit from

I have actually met the guys from DOBA at eBay Live. I think they are a legitimate company who tries hard, but the virtual warehouse drop shipping model just doesn't work. In my opinion the only way to drop ship profitably is to work directly with the manufacturer of the product.

That is what we do with three different small manufacturers and it works great. Very profitable and we send them enough business they know it's important to take good care of our customers.

There are several other drop ship companies and I wouldn't work with any of them. DOBA is the best of the bunch --but as I say it is very difficult to work profitably with their price model.

Charged after cancelling

I became a member of DOBA through the 7 day trial which I got with my credit card. I was very happy when I joined, I had a few eBay campaigns set up and I just needed products to sell. I went ahead and started selling products from DOBA on my eBay’s seller account but unfortunately that did not last. I was banned from eBay for selling fake goods, which I wasn’t aware of. I thought that the products from DOBA were all real but apparently they fooled me. This happened on the 6th day of my trial and so I canceled my membership on their site. 3 days later I was charged a huge membership fee which I never even got a refund for.

Great idea but not such a great service

I signed up for the Doba free trial a couple weeks ago. When I heard about it, I thought what a great idea. I did some research on some other Dropshipping companies and Doba was one of the only ones offering a free trial. I was excited to get started and make money selling on ebay, but Doba was a complete disappointment. The products that they offered were sold at a higher price than a lot of other places you could buy them from. Not only that, but the have ridiculously high shipping prices. After a week of trying to find a product that I could actually make a profit on, I gave up.

In my opinion, if their offering a free trial, why not try it. But for me, this service was a waste of time.

100% FREE Stuff!!!

Everything Is Fake

I joined DOBA because I wanted to start selling items on Ebay and Amazon and I didn’t know much about wholesalers. DOBA is popular so I decided to just go for it and I paid for the full membership up front (really wish I knew there was a trial). Well once I joined, it only took a couple of minutes to figure out what their whole deal is, they have all fake inventory. All of the products on DOBA are currently fake and they will not sell, you could also get banned from EBay or Amazon for selling this type of stuff.

Honesty

Never take 7 Day Free Trial

I got a call from a representative and he asked me to take 7 day free trial which I started on 28th Dec 09. He never informed me that they are closed on Saturday and Sunday and I cannot cancel my free trial through their website. I tried calling them on 31st there was no answer and than I tried on 1st and 2nd Jan 2010 they were closed. Finally I was able to talk to representative on Jan 3rd morning at 10 and asked him to cancel my trial. He said he can't cancel and I have already been charged $59.99 and that can't be refunded. I have never seen this is my past life.. they just want to take money.. If a company is not willing to honor and understand their customer and just wants to charge a fee how can I trust them to do future business. I would never do it and will not recommend to anyone. Also I tried selling some of their items during my free trial period, but I was not able to sell as they were expensive.. Please don't waste your time using this service... NEVER... NEVER...

Complete Scam

I joined DOBA through a 7 day trial because I thought I had nothing to lose and I needed a drop shipper so I decided to give it a try. Once I joined I noticed that most of their stuff was fake and so I decided to cancel my trial on the 3rd day of my initial 7 day trial. I cancelled my membership on their website and everything was fine until 4 days later when I was charged $99 for their membership. I got really mad and tried to contact them by email but to this day they still have not emailed me back or tried to contact me in any way. DOBA is a SCAM so stay away!

The Truth Hurts

An awesome Program!

I like Doba. I feel like it's a real good site especially for doing sales on e-bay and amazon. I'd heard about Doba in the past but never really tried them. At the time I didn't know what drop shipping was then I learned more about it through the years and finally just wanted to see if I could sell things on E-bay from doba with their drop shipping program. I signed up and used the 7-day trial to see if I liked it, or if I could sell anything (which is another good thing I like about it) you get to try it before you buy it. The only thing I didn't like was how everybody and their mothers was selling the same thing on E-bay which made it harder for me because of the competition. But other than that, I guess you just have to find other ways to promote Doba's products to actually make any sells. But I love their site and If I was good at promoting I'd definitely give it a try again!

I tried it when I was a newbie

I took the 7 day free trial. I tried to set up a shop, but the program was very complicated and difficult to use. 7 days are definitely not enough to try it. Then I decided to cancel my free subscription and my first shock was that I could not cancel through the Internet, but had to call them. I have a pretty busy schedule and I did not get to calling them until after the 7 days were over. They debited me for over $50 and they refused to give my money back, even though I never actually used the service. I was very upset. Despite this I still kept getting e-mails from them just like nothing happened. I do not recommend them if you do not know what you are doing, and I do not understand why they charge $50 or so every month when they can get decent money from the percentage of sales. Do not fall for these 7 or even 1 month free trials, the days go by very quickly and more often than not you will end up getting charged.

Doba is not worth the money at all

When I set up my online store I looked at Doba. They had a lot of items that I could choose from. The prices however were not good. The prices were relatively high in comparison to what you would find on Ebay. Also since you are going through Doba, you are going through quite a large number of companies so you never know if the item is going to still be available when it is time to order it. Also being that you are working with a log of different companies through Doba, customer service leaves a lot to be desired. If you ever had a problem with a customer not receiving an item or it is defective it would be hard to deal with Doba on that. I would not recommend Doba at all, for their high fees and their customer service. You don't get anywhere with Doba's customer service. If you are looking for items to sell, get your own drop shipping companies that you can deal with directly.

Doba customer 'un'service

I opted to try this service with their free trial and was very disappointed because they offered so many things that turned out to be available only if you payed even more money. They don't allow you to cancel their service online but they make finding a customer service contact number to cancel with very hard to find. I found their website incredibly difficult to navigate and I work in a high tech IT field. After I finally got in touch with customer service via phone to cancel, I was charged 49.99 anyway (unauthorized) and had to call back three more times because the service was STILL not canceled and I never received the money back that they never should have charged to begin with.

Cannot Deliver On What It Promises

I was a member of Doba about six months ago and was not a happy customer. I signed up for the free trial and posted items up on Ebay. Absolutely nothing sold. But I also realized that maybe it was the items I decided on for the reason of them not selling. I did become a paid member of Doba only to have the circumstance deteriorate after that. I continued to post and actually had a few items sell. When I went to order them, a couple of the items were out of stock by time they sold and the other one was never delivered to my customer. Thanks to Doba, I was getting into hot water with Ebay and my customers. I did make good on the items purchased however, but thanks to Doba my reputation was damaged. I have since regained my reputation as a seller but not until I was forced to redeem my self. I also found that a lot of their products were overpriced and that did not set right with me. It would be a lot cheaper to for an individual to purchase the items themselves, sell them, and gain your profit from there. Do not pay the high membership fees for Doba when you can save money by doing it yourself. Also, do not damage your reputation with Ebay because of this company. They are not at all what they claim.

I will never again Pay for a Dropship service!

About 3-4 years ago, I signed up for the free trial using Doba.com. Now they have great products and lots to offer and setting up the items for sale on Ebay was easy. However, I only ever sold the one item. I was losing money by being a paid member to use their products each month and not selling enough of them on eBay, as there was so many others doing the same thing. It's hard to be the cheapest when so many are selling the same thing. I loved the site and the products but just could not afford to pay the monthly fee to be a member.

My experience with Doba

I took the free trial with Doba and I too found that the majority of the products I researched were priced far higher than what the products were selling for on eBay. I called Doba to cancel within the period given to cancel, and they indicated that I wasn't giving it a chance or looking at the wrong products. I'm an online seller and probably went through hundreds of items and didn't see where I could make a profit.

Doba is misleading

Do not fall for their false claims. It is true that you find lower prices on ebay for most of the products doba sells. You would be better off doing offers to get your products and sell them on ebay, than to use doba. I bet that doba makes the most of it's money selling the system to people like us, who have fallen for their crappy claims. I couldn't sell one item on ebay. That's the sole purpose I joined the program. Now, if I had a small business, I might have been able to use them. I did not want a building stocked with products that I might, or might not sell. I just wanted to be an ebay power seller. It never happened. I quit doba before it was time to renew.

Do not fall for their promises

I joined Doba to try and sell drop ship items on Ebay. After I had posted an item on their site and the item bidding was over, I went to Doba to order it for the customer. It was sold out! I had to pay out of pocket to locate it at another retailer and have it shipped to the customer. I immediate ended my relationship with Doba. Then, I started receiving phone call after phone call from their marketing company 3xp web solutions trying to get me to rejoin. After numerous calls I gave in. I was very disappointed and also ended that venture. I asked 3xp if this would end my Doba trial and I was told yes. When I received a bill from Doba I called and asked why. They said I never ended my trial. They said that 3XP is just one of their affiliates and they did not have the authorization to end my account. They have been just awful to deal with. I recommend staying away from them!

I tried this one a couple of times in the past.

Several years ago, I came across this service and thought it might be useful back in the day when Ebay was still skyrocketing towards fame. It promised to deliver information on wholesale products and even offered an online mall. Needless to say, before I could even look at the prices they could offer on their big list of products (mainly electronics), I ended up having to call customer service for assistance on their site. It wasn't the best, but I went along for the free trial. I just wanted to look at the prices! After all that, I found the prices to be cheaper elsewhere. Maybe this service is more suitable to small brick and mortar businesses even though dropshipping is one of their features.
