Roman Cart Description

RomanCart provides a way for online businesses to have an easy shopping cart and checkout system on their website. Unlike some providers, RomanCart does not restrict you to creating your online business to a template. You may create your web site with whatever program you choose. With a simple cut and paste, you will have your online shopping cart. Your customers will feel safe shopping with you since the system is secured by VeriSign EV SGC SSL certificates. It can be used anywhere in the world since it is compatible with any language or currently. Without altering any code, you can change the price, availability and description of your product. RomanCart also offers several marketing tools and an e-mail scheduler to contact potential and returning customers. It also offers many optional features for your account. Prices range from free to $549.99 a year.

Roman Cart Detailed Overview

RomanCart is very similar to the PayPal shopping cart and checkout system. It is very simple to use, but it does have drawbacks. First of all, it's not a very well-known provider. For those who are not familiar with RomanCart, they might be a little untrusting of using the system. On the flip side, there are many users do not like to use PayPal. In this case, the use of RomanCart would be a positive point for the buyer. It also seems to be a bit more flexible than the PayPal system. RomanCart is nice to use if you have a limited number of products descriptions that do not need a lot of updating. One of the biggest selling points of Roman cart is that if you use HTML to create your website, your product listing will be listed on Google. If you're concerned about search engine optimization (SEO), this is a definite plus.

The system is not as flexible as some other providers though. If you want your shopping system to be completely customized, it would be best to hire a programmer to create a script for your shopping cart and checkout. RomanCart is best suited towards businesses with a fairly small inventory who want a headache-free and hassle-free way of allowing customers to purchase their products. If you plan on expanding your product inventory or you do lots of updates to your products, it would probably be best to choose a different provider or create your own system.

Roman Cart Reputation

RomanCart provides reliable service and top-notch tech-support and administration. It has managed to avoid all of the pitfalls of services such as PayPal. Overall opinion seems to be that RomanCart works well with a very specific type of business. If you are not one of these types of businesses, however, it would probably be best to use a different avenue for your shopping cart and checkout system.

Assuming you are on a budget…

The real question is, “What is the best shopping cart for under $100 year?” This question is appropriate since I have only used Roman Cart at this price-level. From my own experience and research I can tell you there is no other shopping cart that can compete with Roman Cart for the money.

What is Excluded?

*Email marketing to your existing customer base

*Digital or downloadable products (ebooks, software, tickets, intangibles)

*Advanced marketing features (special offers, cross-sell and up-sell, auto responders)

*Product search engine, product images, and customizable pages.

For the most part, everything else is included (too many features to list here). Some of the limitations can be overcome. For example, you can use a separate service to send promotional offers to your existing customer base. Roman Cart supports Google Checkout and integrates seamlessly. I highly recommend Google Checkout as a payment processing service.

Notice how Digital Products are excluded from Roman Cart services at this subscription level. Selling digital products is really a separate market. It’s best to use a company that specializes in this such as Digital River or E-Junkie, among many others. One of the most important factors to consider is the size of your inventory.

Even the Roman Cart subscription level of $180 per year is a good deal. When you move into the higher price point of $250 year, the competition intensifies. $200 US dollars appears to be the threshold for full-featured shopping carts. Roman Cart has improved greatly within the past few years and is much better now than it once was.

The best shopping carts and ecommerce services are scalable. That means, they can grow or shrink with your business and it's needs. My advice is to start small whenever possible. It’s easier to expand than to have to cut back on expenses or features once you have already started using them.

Inexpensive Shopping Cart

A customer of mine was unhappy with a shopping cart she had used... I will not name that particular cart. I researched the alternatives and picked Roman Cart for it's ease in integrating it in her current site. I was not limited to their templates as her site was already established.

I was also very pleased with the pricing as the cart fee is her only charge for the cart and she does not have to pay a percentage on each sale, except for through her credit card processing company.

We chose the "hobby" option and it has worked very well.

I am about to add a shopping cart for another of my customers and I will use Roman Cart. I had no problems with customer support via e-mail and received fast responses.

Well worth a try! There is a "Free" version that you can check out and see how easy it is to put directly on your site.

UPS and USPS not working. Shipping module is horrible!

I like the fact that they wish to reach out to USA customers, but like BP Oil company, this new module is a disaster. We built an entire website around roman cart, but then in the end, the UPS and USPS does not work!

I had to waste hours and hours trying to solve this. When I asked the customer service people for an explanation all they could do is say, 'we are working on it'... it's been a month!

Takes fifteeen minutes for installation

Roman Cart is a free site where you can design your cart with the tools on their site and simply copy and paste the link to your website and you now have a cart that is secure and provides your customers with convenient shopping. This add-on to all three of my sites proved effective and boosted the professional look of my websites. Why do continuous ads keep on popping up on my account to upgrade, just one notification is fine. Besides the nagging ads, I found the free version of Roman cart to be useful so invested the money to get all of the tools and have been able to email my customers easily with them and not change a thing regarding my websites. Great service, fifteen minutes to install.

Easy and fast

I've tried the free version of this service couple of months ago. I was really satisfied with it because the setup was really easy. All I have to do was just to setup the product in their account manager and then copy-paste their code to my website. Their account manager interface is very easy to understand and it didn't take more than 15 minutes of my time to fully understand how it works. I didn't use this service to sell a lot of products and expect a great income from it but instead, I'm using it to just sell some of my small products and expect small extra online income from it.

The only downside of this service is a quite nagging ads that keep telling me to upgrade my account. But overall, I find this service great for those who want to make an online shop in their website instantly.

Not bad, but worse than it's competitors

Let me first say that Roman Cart did indeed work for me, but I was just left thinking that for the price I was paying I could be getting a much better service and product.

While it made the process more customizable, there were no templates that you strictly had to follow. This made the whole ordeal fairly drawn-out and lengthy. It took a while to get used to the system, which was a major downfall.

However, I found the customer service fantastic, and they were pleased to help when I had any troubles.

Overall, I would probably go with another service, you will get much more for your money.

I use Roman Cart for most of my sites

I have been using Roman Cart for almost six months now and the ease of all of it is just amazing. First I like how easy it is to install the shopping cart right onto my websites. It was working instantly upon installation, and I have so far had nothing but good luck with it. I also like that whenever my customers order something from my website that they are provided with a green bar in the browser giving them the security of knowing that the checkout is secured.

What I also like about Roman Cart is that I can follow up with emails to my customers and let them know of new products I have based on what they ordered before. I have been able to effectively communicate with my customers which allowed for others who they referred to get the same ease of shopping from my site as other customers did. I cannot forget that the marketing tools they gave to promote my site with the new shopping cart were a blessing. They are so well done and practically speak for themselves.

I am very happy with Roman Cart. Even though I have multiple sites that are using this shopping cart, I only still have the one account. All of my sites are tied in together which makes it really convenient. I have earned quite a bit of substantial income from my own sites. All I had to do was install the script for the shopping cart and I was done. I would recommend this to anyone is selling products on their own site. You don't have to change anything with your site... just add the shopping cart and you are done. It really is easy to use and you won't be disappointed.

Excellent headache free checkout systems!

RomanCart is an excellent service that I would recommend to anyone who is currently trying to run an online business. What I loved most about their service is that they allowed me to decide the way in which I designed my checkout system, which is different than other services I have used (Usually you have to stick to a certain set). It's also very simple for my customers to checkout as well, which keeps my business running great without any problems. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't have the experience of creating their own script for a checkout system for their site. It's also very cost efficient to do it with RomanCart, as many programmers can charge quite a lot of you go that route...
