Wix Description

Wix is a flash website builder that was founded by Giora Kaplan, Avishai Abrahami, and Nadavi Abrahami and first came online in 2005 and has home offices in Tel Aviv and New York. With the use of the Wix intuitive drag and drop editor users can build their own websites quickly and easily. Not only can you make a website easily but that web site will be search engine optimized and ready to be crawled by all the major search engines.

Wix Detailed Overview

By making a website with Wix you will be able to make fully customizable websites, MySpace layouts, widgets, banners, and flyers. Wix uses a powerful yet simple platform that does not require you download anything - in fact you don't even have to know how to do any programming. You will be able to publish you website with just one click and once your website is published you will find that it is completely compatible with the search engines. You can use a free Wix domain or publish your website to your own - and there is never any need to get hosting because Wix hosting is included absolutely free of charge. After you have your website published you will be able to create all kinds of things (such as banners, newsletters, and widgets) to promote it.

There are four premium upgrade plans available: My Domain, Combo, Unlimited, and E-Commerce. My Domain is $4.95 per month and allows you to use your own domain, take advantage of Google analytics, and premium support. Combo is $9.90 per month and has all the benefits from above as well as ads removed and removal of the Wix logo. Unlimited is $14.90 per month and gives you everything mentioned as well an unlimited bandwidth. E-Commerce is $15.90 per month and you will have a shopping cart included.

Wix Reputation

If you are looking for a simple way to build a nice website then Wix may be just the site to do it. Flash websites are the most professional looking but also the hardest to optimize for the search engines - but with Wix you will be able to have both. You will no longer have to choose between flash and optimization. Try out the service for free and see how you like the way it works and then decide if it is something you need to upgrade.

One of the Best Free Site Builders

I have tried practically every free website builder on the planet and Wix is my favorite. The templates are very professional and just plain cool. I found my site very easy to edit. One thing I particularly appreciate is that any texts, pictures, or anything can be dragged and dropped to anywhere on the screen, unlike with some site building programs. There are a lot of nice features that come with each package including the free version.

That being said, I haven't heard any good things about upgrading. I have never paid for a Wix domain, but most people who have, say that it doesn't get that much better. It could just be a waste of money. Many say that even the free version is a waste of time. This is because Wix is very, extremely great for personal use and beginners, but professionals tend to not be satisfied by it. I myself have never kept a site on there for long.

So if you're just looking to get an idea of what website editing is like and you just want to have fun, this is an amazing program with lots of great features, but as soon as you start holding a more professional standard, Wix falls short.

Great Website maker!

I was referred to this website by a friend and realized how updated it is. It has widgets for the most everyday business needs. Widgets such as setting up an online store very easily and quickly and donate buttons through paypal. It is very reliable and very easy to use. It has many great designs to choose from and it lets you change it in any way which most website makers don't allow you to change the theme. Very great website making tool.

Customer service 0 of 100

One year with them, today is second day that I trying to get problem solved...

1- Expensive

2-Customer service awful, and super slow

3-Sometime slow

I feel sorry that I did service with them. And flash websites wont get indexation by search engines. So site invisible for Google.

Better and cheaper to use alternative websites.

Bad Experience

I upgraded to premium in July 2012. I quickly realized that their ecommerce package was not going to be what I needed so I canceled and developed my site on Wordpress. I almost never check my bank statements because I don't use automatic payments and deal mostly in cash. I just happened to check my bank account last night (Jan 3 2012) and noticed a charge that I did not recognize. After some investigation I realized that these were Wix charges. The supervisor refused to credit my card the full 6 months, but did credit January. I understand that there are people in this world that will try and cheat and they have no way of knowing that I am not one of those people. I asked them to check their member log in logs and they could see that I had not logged in since July. Nope, wouldn't do it. I asked them to view my website that is on Wordpress (the same domain that was upgraded to premium) to prove that I am, and haven't been, using their service. Nope, didn't matter. I asked them why they don't implement consumer protection by simple sending an auto email each month when a card is charged. The agent said they did. But, they absolutely do not. Not one email was received regarding charges, nor was an email received when they increased the charge from 15.90 to 19.90. I understand that this practice is used by other companies. It's goal? MONEY. They count on people like me that don't pay attention to their bank account. Totally my fault but you would think that they would care about their reputation. If you decide to use Wix, and later cancel be SURE to watch your bank statements for a few months. Oh and, forget about using Wix for an ecommerce site. Wordpress is the only way to go!

SNN Designs Uses WIX Everyday

Hello, your review was informative and true in all that you say! I have used WIX to design some beautiful websites for my online media promotion networks as well as for clients around the world. I can honestly say I am changing the way websites are designed using WIX. No one designs like I do, I hear that all the time...... Thank You!

Wix online website builder is awesome

Just want to put in my review. Some might say I am biased, because I happen to be a Wix Pro, (deemed a "professional" at using the Wix editor).

I not only design and sell websites made with Wix but I own several Premium packages.

Wix does take time to learn and there are some issues that might be frustrating at times, but considering how long (my Wix Pro anniversary is now at two years)I and my clients have been using Wix, the benefits far outweigh any issues, generally.

FYI to you all .. Wix now has a brand new editor. The HTML5 editor came out about two months ago and a new Online Store was released yesterday for this new editor.

Wix is updating features all the time. Flash does take up a lot of space and I believe that the new HTML editor is not only better and more efficient, it is also more search engine friendly because there are acually spaces to fill in for each pages' SEO. A big step up.

One of the main things with SEO is that the content needs to change. The SEO bots only come back to read pages when they are saved. It is their "message" that something is new there and they are built to want to go find out what that is. I have had my own Wix Flash sites on page one of Google because I added a lot of content regularly, linked in and out and paid attention to relevant, generic yet specific keywords. Going local gets you to the top faster. Associating the domain name with the site title and the keywords makes the search engines "believe" that what you are saying there is the truth.

An experience in wasted time : (

Well. My interest is to begin building a group of my 20+ owned domain names. I received an offer from WIX.com (. 99 first month, choose a plan to continue). I spent about 2 hours tonight attempting to work through to get to the pay page; IF I was doing things in their order, the requirement was to start building, save, then eventually arrive at the pay page. After several crashes following several wasted blocks of minutes staring at the 'whirling MAC dervish' and several minor crashes, losing the work I had created, the BIG FLASH CRASH came (losing ALL my work) SO I GAVE UP on WIX - after reading the majority of negative reviews here - my decision to leave WIX was finalized...

A complete Time waster!

Wix is a waste of time if you want to build a store with over 30 products and they offer no search options! This is incredibly bad for customer navigation. Customer support is the worst, Wix answers your questions with automated responses that are usually unhelpful and sometimes unrelated and will always take at least one day to get back to you. It's pretty and great if you only have a small site to build, otherwise it is a massive time and money waster. Wix is a headache if you want to build medium sized store, it will constantly crash and give you errors and saving issues, and I wish I had found out before I spend so many hours on my site. Now all my hard work is useless.

Not designed for small business

I don't think flash is the best way to build an entire website. I once tried wix before but I was not really satisfied so I gave it up for eldonpage, built in html5 with a responsive interface. It's a new type of DIY website designed for small business. You should give`it a try.

Deserves More Credit

This is not a top notch website builder, but it is one of the best free programs that you will find. This was the first website builder that I used and I was actually impressed. It was nice and easy to use and had some nice features that beginners could easily figure out. After you finished creating your website, you could publish it for free and they would give you a domain name with wix in the URL. You have to pay a monthly subscription for your own domain name and more features.

For beginners, this is one of the best sites to use.

note: they sent me a lot of spam so be careful what email you give them.

They're only interested in grabbing your money and running

I have built more than 10 websites with this service in 2 years and I don't know why I kept coming back. I guess because their site is somewhat easy to use. Big mistake on my part.

On multiple occasions, they have over-billed my premiums, lost entire web pages that took me days to construct, and their site frequently shuts down, which results in lost revenue for my business. I have received many phone calls from clients asking me, "Why doesn't your web site work?", only to find out Wix has crashed once again. Good luck trying to get support on that one. It's a waiting game.

The list of issues with Wix is endless. I cannot give them a poor enough review. Several times, they have billed me twice in one month for the same premium. It's taken me more than 3 weeks to get that money back. They do NOT offer support - they will direct you to an online forum and often take more than 7 days to respond to an issue. Calling them on the phone (if you can find a phone number) is futile - they will always tell you "we cannot handle your problem on the phone, please post your question on our forum". It's an endless cycle. On 2 separate occasions, the files for websites I'd created (both more than 20 pages each) were LOST. Wix avoided me for weeks before admitting that they'd lost my work and had no idea what happened. The worst part was that they didn't offer me a refund AT ALL. The eventually dropped all communication with me and disappeared. This was the final straw for me. I urge people to consider alternate services, as Wix is just in it to grab your money and disappear. They do not - DO NOT - know the meaning of service. Run as far from them as you can if you value your money and time. They are laughing behind their desks as they collect cash from unsuspecting customers.

Wix Is Horrible For Small Business

Do not use Wix for your small business! They are horrible. If you want to design the site yourself, use Homestead.com. Or if you want someone to design it for you, use Setmysite.com.

What ever you do, do NOT use Wix! My aunt tried using them for her photography business because the designs and slideshows looked cool. After she built the site, it ran super slow and sometimes took up to 15 seconds to load. When we looked at her bounce rate on Google Analytics, it was above 90%. Not only were visitors leaving because they were too impatient to wait 50 seconds, the bounce rate was actually hurting the little ranking she did have on Google.

Do NOT use Wix. It might be super cheap, but it is super sucky. Your site will load extremely slow, and your site builder will crash before you can save your work. Save yourself the headache. You are much better off with Homestead, Web.com, or Set My Site. Wix is horrible!

Wix has some major technical and support problems

Some nice flash effects, rollover options and animations, but once you've become a paying customer, the only communication with support is through long-delay tickets and FAQ forum posts. When users point out defects (such as the inability of blog readers to find an intuitive link to post new comments), the response is to put the issue on the Wish List. We all know what a Wish List is. Wix has a user training video associated with every function, but they have never been updated; for example, a link that purports to lead to a video about how to manage and administrate the web-builder Comments widget delivers a 20-second video that simply states that a Comments widget exists. Worst of all, if your bug piques somebody's curiosity at Wix, they will take your site and/or blog down to play with it during prime time. Users who try to access the blog or site get 404 issues. This is the scariest issue because the user fears that all blog articles are being lost. This is the stuff of which lawsuits are made.

Wix is Flash-Only

I must say that it's interesting the types of animations you can create with Wix. But at the end of the day, what you really want is a professional website. I'm not sure you can achieve that with Wix. The templates are not-so-awesome-looking. I happily use Cubender and I don't think Wix compares...

Wix? More like "Sux"

Wix sucks. Even if you can figure out how to use it and get the finished product you like, the sites load super slow! Wix sites are also not mobile compatible with iPhones and iPads because they're flash- based. Crappy tools and horrible performance.

It might be affordable, but the final product is not worth it. You're much better off using something like Homestead or SetMySite. They're similar in price and way better.

Whatever you use, stay away from Wix! It ain't what the hype is cut out to be.

Flashy but trashy policies

I went to wix because I wanted to build a nice site. Wix allows you to build your site for free and publish it on the condition that you allow ads and you use their long web address. I played around with it and built a site I was pretty satisfied with. I went to pay so I can have my own domain name and when I got to the confirmation screen for my order I noticed a coupon code box so I searched the Internet to see if I could find a code, which I did. Okay so my site wound up costing me $74.50 annually. Before I finished purchasing I was offered a one time offer to keep my personal information private from whois. I don't have a problem with my information being displayed as long as it is my PO Box with no phone number, but I guess because they confirm the info with your billing info they did not offer me the option to change it so I paid for the privacy. That was an extra $33.75.

Then I decided to build a second site. I did this through my original account. The original one was a blog and the second was for my business. I started building it and then something told me to check the price before I go any further. I went through the pricing and decided to purchase the domain name. That with the privacy feature cost me $23.75 per year. Wow that was expensive for what I thought was an add on domain.

I go back to the tool to work on my site and I decided to publish it to my new domain name. There was no option to publish it anymore. While it is true that you get a 14 day trial period there is fine print to that. In total I paid $132 but all I will get back is the $74.50. They said that I purchased two domain names which are non refundable (one of them was supposed to be free but when you opt for the privacy you wind up paying for it) and I can transfer it to another host if I want to BUT I can not do so for 60 days. Mind you if I had just purchased a domain name through another host it would have cost me $20 including the privacy... at most. I was with bluehost.com and they allow unlimited domain names for $5 each, privacy is free and everything can be hosted under one annual plan ($6 a month I think). They don't have flashy templates though, which is why I was interested in Wix.

I forgot to also mention this important gripe, which is what is making me report them to the BBB. You can make a website and it is free, as I said earlier, as long as you agree to their domain and their ads. If you purchase a domain name, that in itself means nothing. YOU CAN NOT USE IT WITHOUT PAYING FOR THE PREMIUM SERVICE even if you agree to the ads. I paid $23.75 and could not do anything with it. NOTHING. Can't transfer it for 60 days and can't use it on their server without paying the $74.

I felt there were hidden fees that they do not explain up front and I never think that is fair. I was okay in the end for the costs of the first site but when they played that little trick on me with the second site I did not like that at all.

Also note that the step by step instructions for some things tell you to go places that are not quite right and they often miss steps in the instructions. I think they upgraded their services but not the instructions because they were close but not exact. It took me a couple of hours to figure out how I can post in their help forum, and it wasn't until I complained excessively that they gave me a phone to call. That is not my idea of premium support.

Bottom line... not worth the headaches.

Best To Stay Away

What I like about Wix is that they make it easy if you want to build a website yourself. Their tools are very "everyone" friendly and the features built into the system have the potential to render a beautiful design - which is why I didn't give it an F.

The problem with this software is that it is simply too slow to load no matter what computer you're using or how great your Internet connection is. When I sent my website link to my friends and customers for them to check out the consensus was that it took at least 15 seconds for my website to open. Then, when they tried to click on other pages in my site, it took just as long. This is a huge downfall for me as I know I would never wait that long for a site to load on my computer. I would just click the back button and look at another site. This is terrible for business.

Other dislikes: No chance to talk to a person on the phone for support, flash is not supported by iphone or ipads, they give you the option to create a mobile version of your website but mobile templates are bare, unattractive, and lacking in general.

If you're looking for an alternative, try Set My Site - not a "do it yourself" program like wix, but similar pricing. $29 a month and you get a professional designer to build your entire site for you, includes hosting, support, maintenance, and design changes. Not unlimited pages unfortunately, but the professionalism of the design outweighs that by a ton.

Wix Only Allows Space For 2000 Photos

Our site is extremely photo intensive. We travel the country each year photographing attractions and locations and our entire basis for the site is posting our photos. I did a ton of research and q&a with various companies when deciding who to set our site up with, and Wix assured me we would never run into a limit on the number of photos we could post. It was explained that Wix reduces the file size of photos when uploaded and that by going with the Unlimited Plan, we would have no concerns. The site went live at the end of March 2010. By this spring, we are being told that there is a 2,000 photo limit and that not only can we not put more photos on, but we have exceeded our limit and Wix is removing some of our photos to get the total back below 2000. 2000 photos may sound like a lot of photos to someone not in this field, but when I spend 72 hours photographing a location over the better part of a week, I take a lot of photos and want a large number of them included on our site. After the hundreds of hours we have in setting up the site, we want Wix to honor what they told us. We have even offered to pay slightly more for a truly "Unlimited" plan, but they have not budged. I know I can link photo sites like Picasa, etc, but I built the site with the intention of being able to have people visit the site and stay on the site, not go off in a myriad of links and not remain on our site. Since our entire point for having a site is to display our photos and that promise has been completely proven false, I give Wix a C at best. I give them that much credit because it is an easy and awesome way to quickly get a graphic heavy flash site on the internet. But for a person who can easily take 2500 photos in one shoot, 2,000 total photos is a drop in a $15 a month, 100's of hours invested bucket that I was promised held much more. I am posting this partially in the hopes Wix will change this policy. I have considered changing website development software, but I truly have hundreds of hours in building, adding to and tweaking this site. I would like to have what I've paid for and was sold on. Thank you for your time. Jim Patton - The Haunted Enthusiasts -

Wouldn't recommend WIX for professional or commercial use

I wouldn't recommend WIX for professional use. Not only are the sites slow as molasses for both creators and users (and no, once you register and log in it does not speed up). They do not allow for importing formatted text from Word or Excel documents. So, if you have a lot of information to share then WIX is not for you.

It's better for Johnny to post his stamp collection or grandma to show off her quilts. While the thought behind it is nice - WIX is better suited for people who like to tinker around for fun.

Fast and easy with only one negative thing

It's the only service where anyone can build flash-sites easy, without any knowledge of programming or web-design. Wix supported drag & drop technology, so creating the flash-site is easy and fast. The only negative thing, I met with, is the documentation about canceling upgrades.

From my experience: users can cancel upgrades within 14 days, starting from date of purchasing the upgrade package. After that time, canceling and refund aren't available.

Because of that, when I try to cancel my upgrade and receive the refund, it appears that I can't do that. Now I want to sell my account on wix.com, with "Connect domain" 1 year upgrade package. Upgrade was purchased on 18 June, 2011.

Pretty flash website

Wix is the place that I made my web. I have a web store online to sell my product and I use wix.com to do that. Wix has a lot of good templates, and they have many templates that are very pretty. I am actually not good at making flash websites, but I am not worried, because with wix I can create my flash websites so easily, also free. But if you want to upgrade, it is a little bit expensive.

I think wix is a very good place for newbies to create a flash website.

WIX is the alternative

I have two websites with Wix, it is affordable, with a professional edge. My 13 year old daughter has a free account, and uses it to review her favorite bands. I taught her how to use the site and now she is mastering it.

I upgraded with the monthly service, and I signed up for an automatic withdrawal from my account. Owning several domains, and doing the address forwarding is easy, and if there is difficulty, questions can be researched through tutorials or the web. A friend of mine asked his nephew to help him get set up and all went well.

I read the reviews and am surprised by the average review of a B-. I have concluded that people did not take their time with the free service to learn about what WIX has to offer.

I also believe people did not take their time to understand what they were signing up for.

Simply put, Wix is superb resource, TAKE YOUR TIME and enjoy the service.

Wix for Fast and Attractive Website Design

I've been using Wix.com for years. From my experience Wix is the best site if you want to build your own website. It is based on flash site. The are several plans they'll offer you. Of course there are free ones, but with their ads on your sites. You can remove the ads by upgrading your plan.

The best things are, you don't have to have any html skills, any graphic design skills or flash skills. You'll just need to drag and drop any gadgets that are prepared on Wix.

The cons I found that website you'll build is a flash website. Not everyone has a high speed internet connection. As a result, users will feel a little bit slow loading at moments.

About this price, I think the price offered is really reasonable. You'll create your own unique and attractive flash site very fast.

Wix used my credit card without my authorization

I had been badly surprised to find out that wix had used my credit card without my permission. I contacted their support team and got a ghost reply: no text or explanation regarding their unlawful transaction. I am hoping for a refund of the money they've stolen without a warning! How could I get this going? anyone Know?

Wix is the worst! stay away!

Sites run slow as molasses, no customer support, no service whatsoever. Contact pages do not work, cannot upload a photo, video, art for over one week. NO replies, Absolutely no concern whatsoever for their customers. Keep your money in your pocket and run like hell! Open a ticket and they close it immediately with no resolution, nothing.

Stay Away!

Solid website builder, Not sure why everyone writes these bad reviews

Recently I have been getting into Wix and designing my website. Reading the comments below I got a little scared, as I am close to upgrading, but they look like a fluke. There is like a 2 month time frame where all you can find about Wix is complaints about customer service. I don't even see why everyone needs customer service so much... all the tutorials explain the website perfectly, you can save & upload the website at any point and test it in a browser, and it's also really easy to just back up what the design looks like just in case something bad DOES happen, and rebuild if necessary... it's really not that hard. I built this in about 2 hours, still using the free domain until I finish.

Unless the premium upgrade is actually a functionality downgrade, I think I'm good.

I can't figure out why people are against WIX?

First of all it supports flash and is seo compatible. Literally no knowledge of programming required. A simple drag n drop mechanism. I created a site for a friend within 2 hours. Everything out there has a glitch be it any other provider. The shopping cart has a few problems I experienced but apart from that it's an Ok product.

$15.99 per month is a negotiable while keeping in mind the work that goes to put a website up so fast.

I grade it a B.

I got scared

Just opened an account at wix, loved the designs, created my site in a few hours, it was so much fun, and I was happy with it so I upgraded to premium, then I entered this site and now I am about to cancel my account... but I wonder is there out there an alternative web service to create so flashy nice sites so easy and have better service?

Complicated editing procedures

I signed up for the free service initially to see how their editor worked. After some time working with it, I decided that you have to be pretty tech savvy to do a website with their editor. I couldn't find the main index page to edit, as when it opened it opened with About Us. Never could figure out how to customize the meta tags either. Without meta tags search engines might not find the site. So, started doing my homework and looking for Wix.com reviews. Bad reviews all over the net. Found a phone number however on their website http://answers. wix.com/ but it's not for customer support:

You can also find an answer via the search box- simply type your question and if you don't find the answer, click on "ask a representative".

If you click on "ask a representative" you get the standard email form to fill out.

My opinion is Nix to Wix.

My wix website

Just so happy with our new website! I am definitely no computer pro but managed to put together a website that we are all so pleased with - it did take me a couple of days mucking around to get the idea of things but used a template rated as medium difficulty and still got it happening with virtually no knowledge of websites. Had a quick response with a question and even though google etc haven't dropped by yet wix is putting us up there which happened almost immediately.

I couldn't believe we saved over $1000 that we were going to pay someone to do our site and have so much satisfaction from doing it myself - also so easy to just change things any time just by going back to the wix site. Highest recommendation. Cheers, mack

WIX Site Set Up

I started to set up a site with WIX and found the navigation and options were very easy to use. I did have paging size issues where there was not anyway to resize the page to avoid scrolling from side to side or up and down to see the home page content. After trying to fix the pages several times I gave up. It was taking too much of my time to get a site up and running.

My business paid for their mistake

Naturally, like everyone else, I was lured in because of the universal word "FREE". And as history has taught, I learned quickly that 'free' wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Naturally, as a business person I look to pay for anything that's worth paying for and what they were selling seemed reasonable. I mean, I'm no web designer, but I completed my site design in less than a day and got rave reviews from my customers and clients immediately.

I went back in, here and there, tweaking things as I got very comfortable with the editor. I didn't like how easy it was to delete items and felt that there should have been a way to 'lock' certain items to prevent accidental removal, especially with someone like me who doesn't have the time to dedicate to constantly maintaining a site.

I was attempting to add html code to the site one day and somehow, all of my work, except for the blue background was deleted. Now with all the content on there, there would've been no way for me to have highlighted everything all at once and delete it. Even if that were the case, there was no warning. My work was simply gone! I'm not one to panic very easily so I assumed that since I was now a paying customer, I'd write them about the issue.

I got an initial response back saying that I should use firefox from now on (a disclaimer that I have yet to find on their site; information that I feel should be in bold print somewhere) and that they would attempt to rollback to the last time my site was active.

3 days went by (as they promised it would take 3 days for a response) and I simply got a one liner stating that the site was gone and that there was nothing they could do. I was already secretly disgusted that there was no phone number to contact them. As a business person, if I lose a client's work, I have to offer them something, ANYTHING of similar value to keep them aboard as loyal clients. I received no such courtesy. I wrote them a diplomatic, non-abusive message expressing my disappointment and have yet to hear something back from anyone. The least they could have done was have one of their site designers (another service they offer) design a site for me for free or at a reduced rate or something. No such "service" was offered.

I stand by my F grade as it's not so much the glitch that occurred as the site can be rebuilt (though I don't have the time). What irks me is the principle of the matter and they receive a failing grade from me because of poor customer service. "Apologizing greatly" doesn't bring back my site and the clients/customers I currently lost who visited my site recently and it wasn't there (after a huge wave of promotion) can't be returned to me. I paid $4.95 for my monthly service and possibly lost thousands...

Horrible customer service and the product is not for everyone

I began to use Wix over a year ago and quickly found that it wasn't a good product for my business. I had upgraded to the Premium Package and it just didn't work for what I wanted. I created a flash page and could not link it to my current website.

I emailed (because there is NO PHONE NUMBER)and after some back and forth canceled my account. I did not however cancel within the 14 day trial period so I had to pay the $99. I was told that since I had paid for it, my site would have premium status for a year, but would not be renewed. One year later and it was renewed.

I emailed the customer service and was given a form email to cancel the service (which I did just to be safe). I emailed them back twice that day- once to demand my money be returned and once to forward the email that had the cancellation information from the year before. I didn't hear anything. Two days later I received an email stating they had not heard from me and my complaint ticket would expire in 24 hours. I then called my bank to refute the charges. They gave me a phone number (646)862-6005. I called it and was told my account was not canceled properly. Supposedly it has now been canceled properly and my money will be refunded.

If anyone has a billing issue with them I highly recommend calling them. She wasn't too excited to have to take my question and when I told her they needed to put a number on their website she said they were "working on it. We know it is a problem".

Do not BUY WIX IF YOUR THINKING ABOUT IT!

This website has poor customer service, they are rude and indeed cheat money off your credit card. I seriously think that this program is run by a whole bunch of kids or college students. When I purchased this program everything was great until I met errors with the site and people who visited my site said that it does not even work or they do not see anything. This company continued to bill me on a daily to monthly basis until I decided to contact my bank issuer and resolve the matter. I tried to contact the Wix customer service, but they never replied to any of my emails. If anybody is thinking about purchasing this hosting site, I recommend you don't and if after reading this and you did decide to, good luck with your bills. These people will not refund your money back if you want it back. Now a lot of people buy this product because of their great free offers for free vouchers. Well the truth is it's all a lie to get people to buy their product, they give you a code that doesn't even work and later on it ends up charging on your own credit card bill. I contacted them several times and no replies, they just totally ignored me, took my money and the funny part is they get so mad when you talk trash about how poor their customer service is. I can't even get a refund back, waste of money.

Very nice but complicated

I signed with WIX 4 months ago. It was by pure coincidence that I fell on this website. I was reading an article on Bukisa.com and there was an ad regarding "flash Website" on this page and as I was curious, I clicked on the ad and it brought me to WIX. I was very impressed with that flash website and I immediately signed up, not for the premium though, but the free one. Well it's free and you have the possibility to upgrade.

I browsed around, it's really interesting. You can really build great and professional websites with that, but the only thing is that it's a bit complicated. I logged on a few times and tried to figure out how and where to start, but so far I have done very few things. I'm still trying to understand how it works. At the time I'm writing this now, I'm still working on it. I'm sure I will come up to something.

If you want to go for it, I encourage everyone, it's an amazing website. I love it. It's free and you have the possibility to upgrade. Yes, it is complicated, but if you have some technical know how, you will do great.

Scammers and poor service

The program is too expensive and they double charge you. The program promises you free vouchers but will not send it to you at all. I been contacting them but I still got no replies. I purchased the website host 1 year @ 200$, not worth it. The website will not be seen by anyone whose computer is not upgraded. The server is slow and it takes a long time to load, in that case you just lost customers. I then decided to cancel and I couldn't get my money back. Since I couldn't get my money back or any refund, I asked for my free voucher again and they finally replied saying that they wont give it to me until I reupgrade and pay another 200$. Now they claim they are cheap because they have the 4.99$ a month, but don't start getting excited yet. They charge 16$ actually and said it was for all these other things! They will not provide any number for customer service and when they reply to you it's weeks later. If the message didn't get to you, they don't care. Poor customer service and billing service. The website is not even worth it! People don't even see it.

Love the site until today - Now skeptical

A week ago I found the site on a search and loved the free, easy to use flash templates and the great options to upgrade. I was testing it and using it for free and finally when I decided to upgrade yesterday, everything was working fine until just now, when the site just went blank. The link to wix.com and my site do not work and I hope it's just a glitch because after reading some of these postings on this site - I'm totally skeptical since it looked too good to be true. I should have checked and researched blogs on the site before hand. Now I'm worried that I just lost $100 and there's nothing I can do?

Please advise if you know more info or if this site is really the real thing.

Thanks.

Customer Service

The company lacks concern and integrity regarding customer service. In my opinion, the company lacks integrity because twice the company failed to contact me. I had to contact them. They did not honor their words of following up with me to resolve the matter. I feel that I am being given the "run around". Now when I call I get voice mail. Recently, I contacted this company about resolving unauthorized billing to my debit card. I asked to be reimbursed for the charges and for the over draft fees my bank has charged me as a result of their unauthorized billing. After my initial conversation with the company I was assured that the matter would be handled the following Monday. On the contrary, the matter was not handled. Even after I expressed to the company's representative that their unauthorized billing has caused me to incur more charges and it has messed up my finances, they continued to bill my card. I ended up having to close my card. Until this day I have yet to hear from them.

Bad support team

I have spent the past month building a website with Wix.com. I was so happy that I could build it for free and then upgrade when I was finished and publish it with a shopping cart and my own domain name. When I finished editing my site on Tuesday 15th of June I clicked upgrade to upgrade to the ecommerce site, but it did something it had not done before when I clicked this link to see the packages. Now it went straight to an error message 2 pages open and say the same thing.. Upgrade unsuccessful. try again or email our support team. I did both, when I got the return email the following day, I did exactly what it said and tried checking if my flash player was working correctly and cleared my browsing history etc. This didn't work & I also replied to the email giving them all of my system info, operating system, browser version, flash player version etc. then I got no response from them. I emailed them again & got a return email from that one the next day, but they told me to try the same crap the other email said, like it was an automatic response with a different person's name at the bottom. I replied to that one explaining my situation, got no response. Sent a new email explaining it all over again. Then got a response telling me to make sure I am entering my credit card info correctly. But if they would have paid attention to my email they would have noticed I never made it to that page! Every email also had the same special deal for me if I upgrade in the next 48hrs I can get $50 rebate. How could I upgrade in 48 hours if this has been going on for 4 days now? So I wrote them again explaining it all over again! and I get the another email telling me simply to just try again... SERIOUSLY? LIKE I HAVEN'T JUST BEEN TRYING AGAIN 15 TIMES A DAY FOR THE PAST 4 DAYS????? They have no customer support phone number or instant chat even though on their support page it says type your question and get "instant answers" WHAT A JOKE! WHAT A WASTE OF TIME! I have read other reviews on the wix site even where customers were also complaining about slow or no response from the support team at Wix. I was trying to be patient as their site asked of me, but how long should I wait for the same auto response before I consider the fact that if I do get to give my money to this company and something goes wrong, how long will I be paying for a website that does not work while I don't get support from them?

It is a beginning

I have been a member of Wix for a couple of months now. The idea is good. You, as beginner, can start right away building your own website

using their quite attractive templates. I was at first so impressed with my own first website, that I opted for the premium solution after a couple of weeks. However, when I had problems and contacted their customer service, they were very slow in helping out. The tools you use to transform your very own webpage could also be clearer. You (at least I had to)use the trial and error method, because that is easier than to contact the customer service. Therefore I recently canceled my premium membership, as it wasn't worth the money. I'm still going to use my basic membership because of the templates.

Will I recommend, yes, but stay on the basic membership.

Wix Warning

I would not advise anyone to pay for a premium upgrade to any of Wix's services at this time. For the past few weeks I've witnessed nothing but issues when simply browsing their website. Links not loading correctly and weird directories popping up when clicking on a link, etc. In addition, when I try to contact Support, this area repeatedly says "Closed". Apparently they are "upgrading" their servers. This has been going on since I discovered them nearly a month ago. I was impressed with their designs and the fact that anyone could supposedly customize their templates and have a Flash site up and running in minutes. Perhaps in another life this was the case, but not lately. Today I decided to give their "Wix editor" a whirl. Nearly everything I tried to do encountered a problem. I would then look up how to do the task in Support and found simple things like making my own photo a background impossible by right clicking as it states you should be able to do. Warning everyone, until they get all of their issues fixed, do not pay for anything. I will continue to check back with them hoping that at some point I can actually use one of their wonderful designs and make it my own. Until then, I'll continue using my existing web host provider and my own software.

This is the Best FREE Web Domain!

I have used Wix and still am and it's the best so far. The graphics that it allows you to use are great. It does get complex at some points because it has a lot of stuff you could personalize but otherwise it's great. You could start out with an already built designed website or a blank one. It's free, so it's not such a big deal to try it. I was about to use weebly, but on weebly you can't really personalize anything as much as you want. Wix has improved much since the last time I used it and not that long actually, I used it again and new graphics, templates, and designs were added. This is the only free web hosting website you'll need to really make a great website of your own.

A very good, quality program!

When I started making different types of video games for the PC I was really just sitting around waiting for them to magically take off and become popular. I realized it wouldn't work, so I tried to find a webhost. I didn't know much about web design so Wix was like a little oasis. With it's incredibly user-friendly GUI and the amount that you can add, and alter what you are putting on the page is INCREDIBLY helpful. You can make a really custom and professional looking page, in flash too, in all of no time!

Good thing here

I don’t have any html or web design knowledge then, but I found Wix to be a dream. I don’t need to hire someone nor do I have the funds to hire a professional do my pages, so it’s great that I can use Wix for free and create pages easily. With Wix, you can make a website that nobody else in the world will have, and that's why I love it. Plus, Wix is always updating and adding new and better tools all the time. I recommend this!

Really good services, affordable & easy to use!

I first used Wix.com’s flash platform about 1 year ago to create the official site for an educational company. I was surprised at how easy it is to use, and also how easy it is to publish your work instantly. They give you directions all the way within the site builder, to help you understand the platform and get used to easily use their drag-and-drop features.

They give a lot of information on the website about the services that they offer, so that you can make an informed decision. You have tens of examples of .com sites built with Wix.com that look really great and make you want to have one, too; actually the examples gave me a lot of ideas that I used in the creation of the site further on (this is how they taught me into using their platform).

The only thing that keeps me from grading their site with A is the fact that they are quite restrictive concerning the height of the page (it just won’t go below the scroll line), and it’s just not for people who want a place to write a lot. I actually can’t wait to see how these guys solve this out, because I really believe they have a lot of potential.

Wix.com is just for your image, a very good and professional one. This is what they can do for you: make you look professional and updated to the latest features of eye-catching web design.

You can have a free site or choose to have your own domain name, just pay for it and for hosting, and you’re done. You’ll go straight in the .com owners’ lines.

I would definitely recommend it to anyone who needs a strong, good-looking appearance on the internet, both for personal and professional use (people & companies that need few, but powerful words to say to the world). I think the best use of a Wix.com site would be personal, as a more exciting online business card, and also professional, as for people working in the fashion & beauty industry & many other interested in their image (photographers, fashion designers, auto-tuning and so on; you name it!).

Not Bad but not great

I tried the wix website builder but to be honest I wasn't really happy with it. I mean the flash is great, the SEO inbedded feature is also good but I did not like the layouts and templates that are available. They did not suit my niche market and although it’s easy and simple to use, it has a lot of disadvantages.

Firstly it’s not compatible with most current browsers. I use Google chrome and I could not install it with it. I had to use IE 8. The templates all look the same, just different coloring. I did try it out for two months but I saw it was not really generating any traffic or profits. I think it depends on the niche market you’re in but if you’re selling especially health products then Wix is not recommended. I prefer yola as it's more SEO friendly than Wix. Wix is not bad but I would not recommend it to serious marketers.

Not as difficult as imagined

Finally, I have a flash-based Website of my own. At first I hesitated to make it alone, I imagine a complex scripts and the layout that confusing me. With Wix, build a flash-based Website as easy as turning the palm of your hand.

Although Wix has existed since 2005, but I just tried it a year ago. I took the combo package that cost me $9.90 per month. Besides getting all the benefits provided, no more ads on my Website and logo Wix also eliminated. My Website looks more professional. We also do not need to download anything; Wix has a very good platform in fact. Try it, and start making a profit with your new flash-based Website.

Feature-rich and easy to use

The Wix website creation tools feel heavy in the Opera browser, something which detracts from the overall experience as far as I am concerned. Everything from the menu options to page updates and file uploads feels laggy, in lack of a better word. But clearly, the interface is designed to help those not familiar with HTML or web design. In that regard it works well, providing everything they need with a click and without cluttering the screen.

Wix is not too bad if you lack experience with HTML, Flash or web design, don't need an e-mail account included and are willing to pay almost ten dollars per month to remove their links in the sidebar and footer. Wix offers decent tools to easily create and customize your own Flash website, gallery and more.

Moreover, other than it being a bit slow on my side, it is a joy to use, and putting together a Flash site is fun.

Easy to Use - Instant Flash Website

I used this site to make my husband company website. I like the fact that it's easy to understand and use. You have a choice of either using their pre-made template or start from scratch. I prefer made from scratch though. Their hosting cost me $9.90 a month. The concept of an affordable flash website is what I like most. The downside is, it's a bit slow if you have a slow internet connection.

FREE, easy to use and useful

For a free service, Wix is certainly one of the better ones of it's kind out there. I've been using it for about a year and I like how easy it is to use. My previous web pages were lacking in imagination and creativity, and as I'm not much of a graphic or web designer, Wix has managed to spruce up my old looking pages. The only bad point that I can suggest is once you've been through all the templates, things start to get a bit samey. If you're not careful, you could end up with a not-so-unique web page, so if you are bothered about standing out from the crowd, this may not be for you.

I'd recommend this to newbies and more advanced internet marketers who would like to spend less time creating their page and more time selling themselves.
